"This guy eric....Is he a mexican guy? kinda husky? If so he came there from charlotte, he's actully a cool guy. He owns(ed) a Black 379 Pete with a End Dump..." - AT

No Eric is a white guy, he's the Director of the school. Only met him once, seems like a nice enough guy. He is also respected by the companies that I have made contact with.

Any other recent graduates of Conover Trans Tech out there? These guys are trying to put a monkey wrench in my works. Tell me it's not really that bad. They told me they have a 98% placement record. Is this true or not?

No Seawheeler he's not a mexican . He's a little skinny white guy dumb as a box of bricks and doesn't care about anybody . And tyo OD i was talking about the Trans Tech School In Conover . Thats the one i went thru . I have no knowledge of the Charlotte School . Hope this helps you. Oh by the Way If you go through Trans Tech You Can Forget about getting a job with Watkins and Shepard . They won't hire students from there .

I think some clarification is needed here. I didn't say Eric is a Mexican. That was a quote I took from another post and then went on to explain he is a white guy and director of the school.

So nctrucker, other than your loathing for Eric what did you think about the school. Who are you driving for now? Did Trans Tech help you find a job?

More information would be helpful, thanks.

Seawheeler i don't loathe Eric . He just doesn't care about the students other than gettin their money . The school is so so at best . They change Instructors every few months . You get 160 hours of instruction If David Slaughter is still there he is a very good instructor . They have only 1 recruiter that comes to the Conover School and that is from Werner . They do not help with Job Placement other than faxing in a few applications for you . Debbie and ron own the place and all they care about is ur money . I went up there not long after i finished school and tried to get them to Fill out a paper from Watkins and Shepard and Ron told me that he didn't have time for that and Eric was on Vacation and wouldn't be back for a couple of weeks . Like i said in my earlier post Stay away from there and Go to Caldwell Community College and do ur training . Sure it takes a little longer but it will be worth it i promise You . Currently i am not driving had to come of the road 3 months ago due to a custody trial for my son . Now everything is straightened out and i'm getting ready to go back on the Road . Best of luck to ya man . I hope everything goes in your favor .

NCTrucker, I see that from your posts that you attended Trans Tech in '09. All I say is that I'm going to hope and pray that they have fixed the short comings that you experienced. My class starts in just over two weeks and it has taken me over a month just to get to this point. If I were to change to CVCC it could take another several months. Although I do sincerely appreciate you advice I'm going to take it as a warning and keep my eyes open. I need to get my ##### in a seat and start making some money. This is the quickest way I see to do that.
I'm pretty good at making things happen even when I don't have all the tools. I'll keep on posting and we'll all find out how this story ends in the very near future.

Thanks again, and I hope all works out for your reentry to the job market.

OK, just an update to let ya'll know that I'm still on plan. Got a call from the school on Thr. they had someone cancel out and could start me out a week early! (03/14) Only problem with that was the fact that I was in the car west bound on I-40 heading to Memphis for the weekend (in-laws) so I had to pass. Still starting on 03/21. I-40 is an interesting drive from Hickory, NC to Memphis,TN. You want to see some trucks, wow. Traffic was tight the whole way. That can't be a whole lot of fun to run in traffic like that in an 18 wheeler, it must be a huge releif to get west and find some open road if that still exists her in America.

Should I start a new post when I start school or just keep this one going?
