What's up everyone? I'd like to ask a few questions.

Here's the deal, all I've wanted to do my whole life is drive an 18 wheeler. I'm 19 right now and I'm waiting until I'm 21 to get my CDL. Thing is, I want to start hauling for hire now. I have two Sprinters, and I spent a bit doing some research online. I read all about how I'd need an MC and USDOT numbers and an insurance policy if I were to start working for myself.

I was wondering, since I can't afford to get all this done after buying my Sprinters, if I would still need all this driving for a company. Also, are there even any companies out there that would hire someone my age? (Preferrably to drive my own Sprinters, but beggars can't be choosers! I'd take any job I could find!)

What would be the best way to go about starting out like this?

(Sorry if all this has been asked before, I couldn't find much on Sprinters through the search.)

Thanks for any and all advice.

On craigslist , in just about every city, there are usually courier companies looking for van owners like yourself, I'd start there.

You can get an operating authority and USDOT number for like $40, according to some ads I've seen in the back of truck stop freebie magazines. Go to a big chain truck stop and grab one of each of those free magazines they have in the entrances. You need to be 21 to drive a commercial vehicle over state lines but you only have to be 18 (In my state at least) to drive an 18 wheeler as long as you don't leave the state.
