(Going camping can be a blast......one week at a time, right?)

As my own "launch day" nears I find that I'm thinking more and more about what I won't be able to just "reach and grab", just "up and do", just "go and get", just ..............! I need to make a list of what I'll have to adjust to NOT having the freedom to do. The "freedom of the open road" sounds great, BUT, what about the freedom I'm giving up? Not having second thoughts, mind you, I haven't had a second thought from the first day I started this journey, but I'm human and I know I need to get my mind focused on the realities of the journey.

Newbies, vets and old hands, what jumps up and smacks a wannabe with a dose of "####, I didn't know it was going to be like this"? I've read a lot about those "smacks", maybe I just need to hear about them again. Maybe there's some that haven't been mentioned? What are some of the "buzz-killers" you haven't told us about?:biggrin_25514:

Getting home the day of your Dr.'s appointment or whatever it is you need to do you will soon learn is of little concern to your company.

Anything important in your personal life, will take a back seat to the freight, even if you are with a good company,,you will be far from home when a crisis develops, and other than abandoning your assigned truck and jumping on a plane, there will be few chances if any,to get you a load straight home, unless you are a local driver

They know and they don't care.My last company wanted me to leave town on one load and not wait for my pharmacy to fill my blood pressure prescription which was why I was at home.

I always hated leaving the house in the middle of a NASCAR race.

I`m so much a "newbie" I am the wife of a trucker and I will start school tomorrow to learn to drive. So, I am very much a noob here! However, I have made my list of what to take to make life comfortable, and also what I will miss....
*Not being home for weeks at a time
    Family Birthdays; reunions
    Friends
    Pet
9-5 job (well not to much)
    Internet anytime I want
    favorite TV shows
My Bed (oh my tempurpedic mattress)
Knowing the shower and toilet is CLEAN
SPACE!!! I will be moving into a closet!
Sleeping during a rain storm, not driving through it
Oh my list goes on and on...but, To be on the road earning a better income for my husband and myself out weight the negative. (I hope)
So, if all goes well in 11 weeks I will be a New driver that is driving a truck... [Somehow I think being called a "trucker" is earned]. I hope one day I earn that title.
Drive safe! I hope to one day come back and tell you guys I have no regrets and can say I earned that title Trucker!!
