Got a 3406E in a '99 flat top Pete. Always runs warm, but now hot. Changed trim codes this spring, now truck runs real good, but won't stay cool. Rad is not two years old yet, and replaced the original rad two years prior to that with an aftermarket piece of junk which sprung a leak within two years.

Moral of story is I am looking for a good rad, not sure how many rows I need, or what the factory is, but these lousy aftermarket rads are annoying me, and I want to buy something that works.

Current rad is clean, and in good shape other than doesn't cool well, and never really did from day one, now really marginal with more power. Gross about 80 000 usually in FL, and GA heat.

    Any recommendations?

I recently bought a CAC from Detroit Radiator, they seem to have a quality product and good customer service, but I've only had it in for a few months now. They quoted me a good price on a four-core radiator too, about $650. Have you talked to Peterbilt? I have an International, and got an aluminum radiator from International (didn't have time to wait for one to be shipped to me) for about $800. It seems to keep pretty cool compared to the original one, but it had 1.6million on it so it was probably somewhat clogged anyway. I have a 3406e too, but I have the 600 brakesaver program in mine, so I'm probably running a little more power than you too. Surely Peterbilt has a four-core radiator though, as many heavy-haul 379s as there are on the road.

Thanks Josh.C, I will call Detroit rad, and price a four or five core. A buddy of mine just got a four core from them too, and loves it.

Guess when I bought my first cheap one, its probably only a three core, and had one ever since.

Sometimes you do get what you pay for . . .

I have ordered from Detroit Rad.... I was more than pleased. I talked to Michelle, she seemed to know her stuff. She will give you options and prices rather than just a parts counter saying 'this is the part you want, pay me' If it were me putting in a radiator again, I would for sure spend the money for the 5 core again, I havent seen the temp go above 190 yet this year, run in TX and OK.
