UOTE=nightgunner;4047833]I see one common thread with everyone who failed as a lease purchase or owner operator. Every time they fail they blame the carrier. Surprisingly they never praise the carrier when things go well.

Moral of the story? Learn from your mistakes and stop blaming others when you screw up.[/QUOTE]

Im on here looking for a success story and its nothing but negativity, but when I run into LPO, they tell me nothing but good things. I'm looking for some of them on here. Some say the trick is to train, that's how you make your money.

People love to moan and whine and complain...for some reason ...unknown to sane people.....truckers are the most whiniest!!! There is no interest in solutions, or suggestions for a better conditions and each and every single company is the Devil incarnate! Reading all this stuff here if i was to believe it all i would never drive a truck and would probably be holed up in a cave in Utah waiting for the inevitable Armageddon!!
Basically be you do you and trust you....do your own due diligence and ignore the whiny nay sayers who after all the negative stories STILL LEASE trucks and STILL work for the nasty terrible companies!!
    Peace and Blessings

Didn't anybody read post number 1? It's that simple 29 pages of whatifs Any LP deal is away to get a free drive, do you really think the company (any company ) has your best interests at heart? You guys have more excuses than a crackhead going to jail about why you have to do an LP, grow up if you don't have the capital don't do it.

Wow.this article descibes exactly the situation we are in.boyfriend is leasing a truck.he became a trainer shortly thier after.truck note was about 400.00 a week.he trained for some time and then i came on to drive teams with him.he lease was redone and the payment has doubled.our truck has been down since last wednesday and the shop ois telling it may or may not be ready monday or tuesday.there is no sense of urgency from the dispatcher or the company we work for.on top of it the dispatcher is rude,he has a smart mouth, and he is never willing to help us when we have a problem which isnt much.there is 17 yers worth of experience between us so its not like we dont know the business to a certain extent.this company does not offer loner trucks so this will 3 weeeks with no money coming in and we are having to get advances n money we havent even made just so we can have a decent bed until our tractor is ready.its ridiculous how these companies preach about taking care of thier drivers, treating them like family.....its all crap.there are alot of good drivers of out people that risk thier lives day and night moving frieght all over the country just to be dumped on in the process.trucking is a hard job and does not get the justice it deserves

Leasing a tractor is a business venture like any other. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. And just because there are many failures doesn't mean you will be one. There are success stories and that doesn't mean you will be one, either. Preparation, knowledge, understanding, and planning are critical to success. Are you prepared to go into business for yourself? Got your personal expenses under control? How about your family life? Do you know about the company from which you will lease and for whom you will drive? Do you understand, really understand, that very long legal contract you are about to sign? Did you have your own attorney and accountant read it and give you some input? Do you even have an attorney and accountant? Do you have a 5-year plan or is it just a dream?

L/P is so much more than just driving; being an experienced driver will not guarantee or even ensure your success. More businesses fail than succeed (in every industry, not just trucking) and understanding what makes up your own business is more important than having 10 or 20 or 30 years of experience behind the wheel. Success can be yours, but there are myriad forces working against you.

There are many good lease deals out there. Do your homework and find one that works for you. I have been successful and many of the guys I know are successful.

It's a new business. Most new businesses fail in the first year.
