I take what I read on Ripoff report with a grain of salt. You do know this forum is also on there? I don't have first hand knowledge about Lone Mountain, but what I have read from other drivers is that you can get a fair deal if you do your homework. On the other side, if you walk around the lot looking for the prettiest truck and sign a lease without having it checked out, you will probably get burned.

Schneider National Carriers, Paschal Trucklines, Schneider National Carriers, CRST Malone Flatbed, Mercer Transportation. If you need to lease, DO NOT LEASE FROM A CARRIER! Lease from a Manufacturer (Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Volvo) Your credit score does affect lease option. Mine is good. Yours may not be. If yours is not, forget becoming a O/O. Stay a company driver. Your bad credit score indicates you can't handle complex financial book keeping essential to being a O/Op/.

 

You need 10 percent down to buy your own road tractor, With current EPA standards trucks cost about 40,000 more than they did 10 years ago when I stated shopping. You're shopping for a truck with 300,000 to 500,00 miles aged 3 to 5 years with a factory warruntee or a extended service agreement for under $70,000 so your upfront cash must be at least $7,000. Don't have it? go back to saving up.

 

Sorry newb question as a lease owner, do I have the liberty to set my own schedule and go wherever I want to go?, or am I slaved to the lease trucking company until its paid in full?

This post is laughable, having poor credit and accounting skills have little to do with each other.
Having good credit and poor business skills, then buying or leasing a truck is a recipe for ending up with no truck and poor credit.
Keep in mind behind most successful business people is a failure or three.
