Absolutely NO lease purchase programs are written to benifit YOU the driver ALL favor the company, why else would they be doing it??

Being a O/O isn't about "how many miles can I drive".. Thats a company drivers mentality. You need to change that and try and see how you can make the most $$ for the least miles.. The faster you wear out your truck the faster you'll need to replace or rebuild it..

The big guys usually only keep a truck for 3 years.. They can depreciate it off on their taxes over 3 years.. and everything is under warrenty.. They run the heck outa them and try to put as little into them as possible.. They streach oil, and grease jobs out to the max... Why... they arn't planning on keeping it...

Don't just walk away from those lease purchases... RUN!

The reason everyone tells you there are no good lease purchase plans is because the conclusion you reached after doing the math on the one at your company is the exact same mathematical conclusion others found with various different companies here in an untold number of threads. Hauling cars is a bad idea in this economy I think you need to drive a few more years before you jump headlong into the o/o thing.

For one thing my "company" has no lease purchase program... Never has never will... This isn't my first rodeo, I've worked for just a few companies & seen the leases and the results first hand.

Rather bashing someone for their input try posting these fictious "numbers" and companies you are refering to. That way we all can crunch the numbers and see if it is a good deal.... Oh, and you'd also have to post the lease agreement too... Just numbers arn't going to say anything.

Nobody is going to change my opinion that a lease is better than a outright purchase. If things change for any reason at company "A" then there is nothing to stop you from jumping from a sinking ship and find another port in the storm.. know what I mean?? If your leased.. try to leave and go somewhere else.. (Sure you can, but try and take the truck with you when you! And, do so without penalties or refinancing.)

    Gonzo is right.

If you have to lease a truck because of a lack of financing, at the very least lease it from someone other than the company that you drive for. That way, if you part ways, you keep the truck! No long busride for you.

Met a driver at a hotel going through orientation. He had 2 years in a leasepurchase when his company sold out to another. He lost his truck and his job and was going through orientation with a company that would only hire o/os and leasers. Poor guy didnt have 2 nickels to rub together.
