you have to have the want to work attitude, sitting in the truck stops and casino's will not net this kind of return.. good job and thanks for sharing
Are you implying it takes a "work ethic" on the drivers part..... I have seen and heard many that for some reason(s) would disagree!
# the OP when you say new driver, are you saying you are at bottom starting wages? I.E. .26cpm? If so I have to salute you, he11 I salute you any way you are doing a great job getting those miles in for a rookie. Keep at it, hand.
you don't pay for showers, thats stupid when you get them for free every time you fuel up! But i do agree its expensive to live out on the road. That is why you invest in a small fridge, and make your own meals in your truck instead of eat out! Super walmart is a truckers friend! It saves you a bundle!
In 2004 I took interest in the Texas Holdem craze and studied and studied. 2005-2006 I won $97,000 mainly in casino's, but some online. I know exactly because I kept track on an Excel spreadsheet. Then my health issues started and I got away from it pretty much. But there are some success stories. You won't win playing games against the house. But with Holdem, your opponent you have to beat is another player. There's a picture of $21K in my profile from a WSOP cash. I might stop once a year now and have fun. On the other side, there was a guy in my orientation that got fired 3 months later. He chose casino's over delivering on time. What a dummy. Another guy I use to talk with on the phone would call me every week complaining about losing at blackjack. You can't beat the house. But he would always go back and lose his paycheck.
I used to play a little poker myself, while in college I played in a pretty big pot limit Omaha regular game in Catoosa, OK at the Cherokee casino about 3 days a week. Man that was a fun game, those old guys that I played with were the best poker players I have ever seen. I was a big winner in that game tho, lost pretty much my whole bank roll when Scottie Nguyen brought his tourney to town along with a lot of big cash games. I got my a55 busted in those games. Took a shot and lost...oh well.
Yes..i am saying that is what I made from training up till whatever the last one posted was......started at .25 cpm There is also a little bit of detention pay or whatever else you might get ...but mostly just the miles run.
So, I was looking at the pay scale today and I was wondering about pay for shuttling MTs. For instance if you drop at a receiver and grab an MT there and are told to take it say 50mi to the next shipper are you paid for 50mi based on the 0-99mi pay scale? If not then how are you paid for this?
Nice. This makes me want to keep my nose to the grindstone. I'm starting classes soon and should be solo in July.
