Here's an interesting, developing conversation over at: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...drivers/169873-otr-pay-poverty-wages-131.html

Both this and that thread started by Surfer Joe.

Also, for example, Trucker Duo at same thread:

Heard today on the radio: 'Sometimes you can't find the truth until someone shines a flashlight.' Let's get some flashlights, shine them on the MSCs (Mega 'Starter' Companies) and advocate for improvements in trucking.

    JEALOUS, YES!!
How about I just stay in the country that I was born in, like.. America.
You know, that fading Republic where people like my grandfather got wounded in France in 1918, or my father got two Bronze Stars in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge, or I just kept my sanity (and thankfully, all my limbs) over in a little place called the Persian Gulf, or thereabouts.
I'm told that the reasons that we all went "over there" were to rid the world of tyranny; with it's people that, incidentally, sounded a lot like yourself.
But thankfully, your tired rhetoric about America being a land of equal opportunity is beginning to wear thin upon the masses.
How about if I want equal outcome, I begin to do my best to organize my fellow workers to stand up to "Tories" such as yourself and move towards possible unionization?
    Scared?
You see, we are all, and I do mean all, beginning to wake up and realize that, for the first time in our lifetimes, something is dreadfully wrong. We don't have a chance; the game is now rigged.
With all the top CEO's, among others, earning all the wealth, they are at the same time, making all the rules. They have lobbied all the lawmakers and they have bought off all the judges; all in an effort to keep everything from you and I and to give it to themselves.
This was all intentional and has been very effective.
Add to that a media that is completely owned and controlled by these very same interests, mixed in with paid "Trolls" surfing the internet with every intent on both confusing and misinforming many readers, and you have quite a control over most peoples' thoughts.
    Until now.
When the people lose everything, they begin to lose it.
Posters like yourself, and your intent, are becoming quite obvious; looks like the rest of us may just be a little smarter than you thought.
And enough of the comparisons to third world countries; how about a comparison to any industrialized country? There's plenty of 'em.
Better hope your side wins. Cause' if it don't, yer gonna look mighty silly wearing all that tar and feathers.

I think, before we focus any attention on fixing the horrible state of this country and the trucking industry, we need to develop software to restrict internet usage for people below a certain IQ threshold.

    misterG Thanks this.

Heh-heh! Might just backfire on ya, Chase05.

Surfer Joe, I'm not really interested in 'unionization' as much as public awareness because I believe with public and media awareness transformation is inevitable. The problem with unionization is that there is a pendulum that always swings too far in one direction, then the other. OTR drivers are in a situation now with the deck stacked against them. This needs to change.

But I'm not interested in trucker strikes, shutdowns and activities of that ilk. I think that's completely unnecessary. The public is unaware of the health issues of long haul drivers, the turnover, the low wages which I don't think can survive public exposure.

Those problems don't affect them. They won't care, lol. No one wants to hear about truckers with aching backs. It's just not a good story.

Junior, look to the other industrialized countries for a second.
    Germany has 20+% unemployment.
France, Spain, Great Britain, all equally as bad.

We "Americans" left those nations to search out a place where outcome was not predetermined. But where we could make our own outcome.
That is why the Constitution was written like it was.
So that all people have the same level field to start from.

Not to make the ourcome the same for all.
If your so adament about equal outcome, than I strongly suggest you move to Europe and experience it first hand.

If you can find a job that is.

As to looking like a fool when you level the outcome for all? Well since the markets won't let that day arrive, anytime soon. I have little to worry about.
Besides, the government's have already tried you tired version of reality, and it failed miserably, as it does every time and place it is tried.

People want freedom to do and think and have the outcome that they desire.
Not the outcome that some starry eyed idjit thinks they should have, because it what he wants.

So if you want to live in a place where there is no more incentive to do more and grow bigger?
Well welcome to the liberal waste land that America has become.
