Certainly Con-way T/L drivers suffer the same health and work conditions issues as the rest of OTR.
- Reduced life expectancy...
- Life expectancy 61-63 years-of-age
- Compared with 75 years-of-age for the rest of the population

I have a question.
Let's say I work or worked for a company for 16 years.
Then quit, or was let go. Worked for another company for 5 years, then came back to original company to work for last 2 years.
How long have I worked for original company? -
Post by the OP ...Surfer Joe (which had nothing to do with Conway or the original post)
then it's fair game -
easier to pick up a bean burrito @ the pilot then stop at a Walmart super center & walk from the back of the parking lot to the back of the store & get a loaf of whole wheat bread & a 9 oz oven roasted turkey ..... That would be too much exercise !Wharf Rat Thanks this. -
That wasn't the conclusion of the review of OTR-related occupational studies by the American Association of Occupational Nurses, who criticized the FMCSA for just that kind of blame game after the FMCSA identified health risks in the OTR work place.
No, what makes more sense to me is that better awareness of issues with regard to trucker health, working conditions and pay, just like CSA 2010, will cause smart carriers to hurry up with a fix so that their shipper customer base doesn't decide that they don't want the vicarious liability from shipping with bad carriers. It starts, I think, we truth-in-recruiting, meaningful disclosures of driver turnover, run length, average 0-to-one-year-driver pay. End the blackballing of DAC reporting.
If you're a carrier that has to hire 150 drivers every six months to keep 100 trucks moving, the side effects are road safety and driver-mordity. Shippers, the public and the media need to know.Last edited: Oct 2, 2013

If you think that the Media and Americans need to know this information?
Why are you still here?
Why haven't you gone to your local paper or media outlet yet?
Why aren't you doing something to help all the downtrodden in the trucking industry?
Is it possiblethat your just too lazy to do it yourself?
Also, Joe, wasn't at Conway long enough to form a fact based decision on his time there.
He got hired, didn't like the job and left, 2 years experience isn't enough to have an informed opinion on any company. -
Con-way, with its healthy financial statement and position as 3rd largest carrier after FedEx and UPS, is a good early-adopter-candidate for Quality Employer Standards, sooner than other carriers to gain and retain competitive edge. Con-way has the financial wherewithal to improve Con-way T/L driver turnover, working conditions and pay.
Revenue $5.6 billion, net $88.4 million: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Con-way -

I posted the link and you copied it, paul, apparently too much trouble to read, eh? Con-way LTL and Con-way T/L, both under the umbrella of CNW... despite that turnover rates for LTL and T/L are way, way different. CNW has so much to benefit from better working conditions, pay for OTR (T/L)...
