    Don't believe this guy!
He is not in any way affiliated with the Teamsters and is likely a paid, company troll trying to keep you ignorant in regards to company policies!
And, it is absolutely necessary to reintroduce MORE GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION!!!
Remember, we all need enforced laws to keep us all in check, or there is no society, including our economy.
What an amazing coincidence, with all the massive DE regulation experienced in this country during the past few decades, our country is in it's worst financial state ever. And, it's workers are making less and experiencing their lowest standard of living in this countries' history.
Look around, almost everybody is broke and making peanuts, while at the same time, all the top CEO's of the corporations are making millions for... one man... while the same corporations are raking in record profits!

    YOU'RE RIGHT!!

Thx, Surfer Joe. I too easily take the bait. Ha!

Right again! What we have seen is evisceration of the 'middle class' via de-regulation and corporate welfare that has spread the gap between top tier and middle. As the 'middle' drops closer to the 'bottom' there is less discretionary spending and a throttling of the consumer-spending based economy.

As the purchase potential just of our trucker wages drops, our families have less $$ to spend and there is a ripple effect. In the short term, the mega carriers do better. In the long term, we ALL do worse. Better wages = better economy. Raises all boats.

10 days huh? You really gave it a chance there buddy. Perhaps you:have to build confidence with your fm, are in a bad freight lane, started your week late, haven't managed your e log etc etc. Ive brought 3 people to the company over the last 12 months and all 3 are still here. Only1 started moving in their first few days. BTW, I did not receive a recruiting bonus for any of them because I insisted that they NOT give my truck number during the recruiting process. I wanted to prove that I wasnt talking up the company just to make $1000. If you hang in there and stay positive/ productive it WILL work out. Think of it this way, Conway doesn't pay a weekly note on your truck to leave it sitting. It's simply not in anyone's interest to not move you.

Worked for Conway T/L for 25 months. Grossed over 52K last year. Have no problems working for them again if I needed to, but got to make the switch to my local Conway Freight yard, so I took it. I am real happy with the training I received there and honestly miss the nice equipment ( except for some of the Towstars). The two years experience I got there driving all the lower 48 except for Maine, and 5 provinces of Canada from Quebec to Alberta, has been irreplaceable to me in the LTL field. Top that off, I kept my benefits, 401K and vacation, and holidays. I still work for a "Mega Carrier", and am home everyday, or night or whatever it is when you're on the flex board, lol. Does Conway have it's problem's, you bet, every company ( and driver) does. When you find a perfect company, let me know. Fact is Joe, if you know so much about operating a trucking company, go out and buy 2500 trucks and do it better than Conway, or any other. the industry eagerly awaits you.

We need more drivers ex-Con-way or current chime in. The range of satisfaction-dissatisfaction highlights the need for truth in recruiting, disclosure of turnover rate, pay ranges for all drivers, etc. Thanks to those speaking up so far and to Surfer Joe for starting this thread. To double yellow and those who provide their detailed experience.

Seen on back of a Con-way Freight trlr: up to $2x/hr 50 cents/mile. (The digit after the 2 was obscured, but obviously twenty-something per hour.)

Let's not lose sight here that it is important that drivers whose experience with a carrier does not work out feel okay about speaking up and giving voice to their experience. Otherwise, we have just the company choir singing all pollyanna. Getting good, detailed information, especially dollars and cents, is priceless. We get this, well, maybe, you coulda, shoulda done this or that, just jumped through more hoops.

    Arf! Arf! Arf!

Hey, I show up, do my job, drive the darn truck. Here's how it works out--or not. Don't tell me I forgot to balance a ball on my nose, as one writer on another thread pointed out. Balancing a ball on my nose is not trucking. That's not my job. Showing up and driving the truck is. I do that. I'm good at it. Let the brown nosers balance the ball on their nose. If they feel that helps them get ahead, so be it.

    It's not for me.

/By the way, double yellow, the Con-way driver had--a distinctly blue uniform... (double yellow says that once he left Catholic school, he swore off uniforms.)

While you are undoubtedly off to a rotten start, 10 days just isn't enough time. Like you posted on conwaydrivers, give it a least 6 weeks. However, if you haven't started running better by the 30th, call operations, ask for the supervisor, and request a new FM. But for clarity, you also neglected to mention here that you were paid an additional $252 due to your layovers so your pay checks won't be that far below average.

    From other forum:
Prepare to be disappointed. There will be 600-800 mile days, but they are the exception. Including time off, the average Conway company driver runs 2200 miles/week (average of 314 miles/day). I'm averaging 2500/week (360 miles/day) with "good" weeks being 3000-3500 (465/day). But on the upside, with all the ancillary pay (like your $252 layover) your average cpm will likely work out to be ~5 cents higher than your base rate...

If you want to keep a rigid solar-powered schedule, don't expect to run above average miles OTR with Con-way Truckload. A large part of the reason I'm running above average miles is because I look for reasons to say "yes" to a dispatch. That often means bouncing between days & nights as the load appointment times require.

    Hi everybody!
Oh, have I got a surprise for you!
Got out some of my Conway Truckload paystubs.
My first paycheck was in the month of May, so I will start with that one and I will end with the last paystub of the calendar year. This will give you 34 weeks of pay history from CWT. And the "really" short checks are from breakdowns, not home time.
And it is a bit time consuming to add all the miles together; I figure pay is the most important, although if I get time and it makes you feel better, I could add everything up.
    Here goes: Week:
    1. $714.82
    2. $724.61
    3. $485.23
    4. $698.81
    5. $440.20
    6. $570.37
    7. $987.56
    8. $557.62
    9. $77.45
    10. $661.24
    11. $624.18
    12. $745.94
    13. $649.73
    14. $639.77
    15. $437.00
    16. $743.98
    17. $606.14
    18. $791.32
    19. $319.91
    20. $398.60
    21. $1164.90
    22. $350.27
    23. $770.56
    24. $682.31
    25. $507.43
    26. $457.95
    27. $807.41
    28. $121.18
    29. $186.72
    30. $667.89
    31. $617.19
    32. $535.62
    33. $799.73
    34. $879.30
    Total $20,422.97
Had I worked the full year, based on these averages, I would have earned about $26,000.
    There you have it.
And for further documentation, if anybody can tell me how to paste any copy of whatever week you choose, I will try my best to provide it.
And, BTW, I always said "yes"! to dispatch.

Never was much one for running a business, myself.
I can barely balance a checkbook (if I had one).
But I suppose it doesn't take a mathematical prodigy to realize that when drivers are busting a gut to keep rolling for about 600 bucks a week, while at the same time, the company is raking in record profits, then, while I may not know a lot, I sure know a little.
And I agree with you that the industry eagerly awaits me; I'm reminded of it every time I see one of those "Please come work for us"! pamphlets at the truckstops (you know, the ones sometimes next to the adult friend finder brochures).
