Well then you need to bone up. I've got a rooted Samsung 4g with not one, but two different ways to turn it into a hotspot.
I don't pay twice for data, and I don't trust public Wi-Fi. My phone company knows what I'm doing but they can't do anything about it. FCC rules.
Wanting some advice, have some questions

To answer your major question yes you can be a gamer/trucker... you can find wifi at various trucks stops or rest areas which you'll learn that in due time.. now granted not all times the wifi will be great but you can find that out thru your trials. Just overall make sure you give yourself enough time to rest in between shifts which thats something else you'll learn. Preferably by pulling over and taking a nap. Mostly all trucks are set up for tvs and you can buy a convertor box so you can hook up a console or laptop. Most of these naysayers act like trucking is their complete life. For some whom live in their truck it actually is. But for many others its a means to provide for their actual life. Having said all that safety is #1 over everything. If you dont feel you can operate safely for yourself and those around you then maybe trucking is not for you. But overall yes you can have some type of life and a trucker.

P.s ..... loads of time to play games when you first start... especially if you go with a big company. .. minimal driving alot of sitting around. Lmao. I beat a game of final fantasy in the first 6 months in my rookie year lmao.... and still accident/incident free

There are many drivers who don't sleep 10 hours, and for those (like me) I find other ways to occupy my time when not under a load, or when taking my 10 hour break. Movies, this forum, online poker (or other games)...yet somehow I have managed for 20+ years to be a safe and reliable driver...I know, GO FIGURE right??!!
Just remember when you "assume".....(break it down)!Hammer166, FloTheWaitress, teddy_bear6506 and 1 other person Thank this. -
OP....it seems that gaming is the popular entertainment among younger people and that's cool. However most questions in this forum are industry related such as technical questions, questions about carriers and regulations, etc. Somehow your post focusing on how to indulge your hobby while on the road indicates to me that you are not serious about this profession. Just sayin' there, young hand!

I'm of two minds here.
On the one hand, the correct time to ask questions like this is before you commit yourself and your money into training for a career that might not mesh with your lifestyle. Asking this question now shows a certain amount of maturity and forethought to the future, and whether or not this is a good career choice for the OP.
On the other hand, there are certain red flags in the OP and subsequent posts by the OP. I realize I did not have a chance to read the OP before he edited it, but as it stands now, it doesn't seem too off the wall. However, I do find it disturbing that initially he claims to spend hours of time gaming, and only after he's questioned about a possible gaming addiction does he claim that it's a job right now. That leads me to question his honesty, which makes me question his maturity and suitability to a profession where the stakes in human lives are as high as in trucking.
To the OP: You are entitled to off time entertainment, so long as what you do in your off time doesn't put the general public at risk. With advances in technology, and given a little creativity, I think you can figure out a way to make your hobby work, though it might not be right away. As with in any profession, you must "pay your dues". Nobody gets the sweet shifts right off the bat. That goes for any job. Good luck to you.FloTheWaitress, mojo_jojo and otherhalftw Thank this. -

I manage my work time to maximize my off time. It's my life, not some corporation's. -
You sound like having fun may be important to you.Bear in mind I havent had a lot of fun driving a truck. Sure you get to see some neat places and everything, but most drivers are ready to sleep when they can.Just saying it will probably take a special kind of trucking job to where you have a lot of free time for "gaming". I.E. a set route(same hour everyday). As a new driver youll probably find yourself trip planning, logging, sleeping and worrying if you're going to make it 1200 miles to the delivery by 5pm in 32 hours.Trucking is tough.Requires full attention and alertness, concentration. If you're driving around daydreaming about "call of duty" you may be in trouble. Not knocking you, just saying if you become a trucker that will be enough to keep your hands full.JMO
