No, thousands of 60+yr. old drivers enter the trucking career every year.
Where is your location; we'll help you get started.
Do you want a private cdl school or a trucking company cdl school?

    Intothesunset and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

A tough business I am sure. I have confidence in myself, but getting started in a business like this takes lots of planning and maybe for me to realize i am better off just getting soaked outside in the rain doing construction.

I am in the Atlanta area. I have ordered some books to read. If I decide to do it I will go to school in January 2020, with Chattahoochee Tech in Acworth, GA.

    Forget construction; hit the road.

Nothing wrong with being a company driver.. Alot of companies hire 1 yr exp for 70k +.. If after 1 year of being o/op if u are still in business i doubt u will be making that

I prefer coast to coast refrigerated trucking. Plenty of those jobs for a new cdl school grad.

If you prefer to stay regional look at Dot Transportation. This outfit will reimburse your cdl school tuition, but so will coast to coast outfits.

Seems like solid advice. I am sure you must be right. What about the types of partners out there, would I need one? I do enjoy being alone more than with others

You can run solo if you want. Probably be stuck with a trainer for a short period of time to teach you the ropes of a specific company. That's just temporary though.
I ran solo and loved it. Coast to coast & border to border.
