Wanting to know details about milk hauling

I've only been hauling milk for a few months. With all my previous experience(not with milk hauling specifically,but my entire experience), and the fact that it's a small company, and the owner is going to retire/sell the company (in the next few years), I really want to learn as much as I can as fast as I can to be in a position to possibly buy and run a successful milk hauling company. I want him to teach me, but I'm not sure how to ask without sounding like I'm trying to be his competition instead of his student?
