It’s all subjective. I talked to a guy once who was paying a grand a week to a truck and getting $1.70 a mile including fuel average. He was as happy as a pig in poop.

I looked at him like he was insane. I didn’t burst his bubble. If that makes you happy God bless, but know this. You’re getting F$CKED!

why own at all? Make $65-70,000 a year guaranteed, with benefits, with 401K retirement match, etc. Why even get into the crap shoot that is a truck? Mechanics cost $149/hour most places. Fixing things that go wrong today costs a fortune. Unless you have a warranty to cover it stay away from a truck.

and the X factors are: the economy, your health, etc. Every two years you’ve got to go up against a DOT doc who could say you’re finished. My doc tells me truckers are the unhealthiest people she sees. Why risk 100 grand? Let someone else. And that truck is a money pit. A worthless piece of used rusted garbage right about the time you pay it off. There is a reason companies get new trucks every 3 years.

Hell you can work at Home Depot driving, be home every night and bring home $53,000. I know someone doing it right now!

Even something like Landstar is a screw. Pick your own loads sounds great eyyy? You’re paying them on each load almost what you are earning after expenses and you’re risking everything and giving up your life. They just have a phone and an electric bill.

My best advice is go become a mechanic fixing trucks, a broker/agent or get into HVAC or plumbing. Roto rooter right now will train you and after 5 years a lot of guys are making 6 figures working for someone!

Point is there are a lot better deals and ways to earn a living than trucking. I love it, but man is it a screw! Think long term. Think retirement. Think your health. You won’t be young forever and long term the best way to build wealth isn’t owning a truck. Not for 95% of people. Everyone thinks they’ll beat the system and you can’t.

Can I ask what company you leased your truck through and how many miles you ran and weeks up until the vacation/time off? Me and my hubby are really considering Road Legends and just looking for different input.
    TIA.

If all you care about in life is earning a living and just keeping up with the Jone's on materialistic milestones and wasting your potential and dying off in a retirement home, then take the safe route and be a company man your whole life.

If you have real values, passions, and goals in life, and owning a truck happens to be one, then who are you to say they shouldn't do it because of everything you're scared of?

I have just contacted Super Ego Holding last week and they put you in a brand new kenworth or volvo no money down, 650 a week truck payment. It runs about 1800 a week for all bills first week 1500 last three weeks in month. Then after you get your tag paid off and escrow everything it will be about 1500 first week and around 1200 next three weeks. They give you brand new truck and trailer, I am waiting for the new 2022 to come in next week and I will be checking them out. I will let you know, I have seen a few vildeos on youtube though that speak very well of them. Still looking to talk to a driver though on the phone
