Thank you, 151!!!! I always see all this griping and whining about the foul language and all. To each his own, but I'm a big boy now and have been for 40+ years. I've heard (and said) my share of bad words so I don't get my undies in a wad because someone is cussing on the radio. A lot of the arguments and fights are entertaining and some are funny as hell. This keeps a lot of drivers entertained and awake, especially at night on long, boring, roads.
Back in the late 80's or early 90's, there was Black guy who ran his own courier service between Charleston, SC and Columbia, SC. Every morning around sunup in Columbia, he would be on channel 19, stirring up #### with the care and expertise of a pro. He would make smart comments, often getting racial but not really hateful, and drivers would be cussing him for everything in the book. I would often be in tears, laughing at this guy and the drivers who were taking him so seriously and the upheaval it was causing on the radio. One morning, I met him in traffic going in opposite directions as he was in one of his monologues. I picked up the mic and said, "I see you" as I passed his marked courier van. He put his finger up to his lips, keyed the mic and said "shhhhhh...". I told him not to worry that I wasn't going to rat him out. I enjoyed his morning show too much every Monday thru Friday for a couple of years.
The thing a lot of people don't understand or care about, is that the laughs, rage, and spikes in blood pressure, these interactions cause are often as beneficial as the solid info regarding trailer deficiencies, road hazards, scale house status, traffic tie-ups, and the like. They can be entertaining and help keep you alert and therefore safer on the road.
There is a driver on YouTube whose channel name is "Truck MAFK" or something like that. He has some hilarious interactions between himself and other drivers he is trolling. Audio quality is sometimes a little poor, but most are funny as all get out.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I know this is a old thread and a old post but that's just to feakin' funny. Been out here for a very long time.with the Last 3-4 years without a radio. I have neither a use for one for reasons stated by shaggy76, nor do I miss having one. Backups, accidents, whether the scale is open, or any other reason. And half the time if you ask what's going on nobody responds anyway.
"I ain't got no panties on " , " break 1 9 for a radio check " 15 times a day , or some DA cussing another DA because of whatever stupid reason. And the total disrespect between what's suppose to be so called professionals (what a joke) out here. Nahhh..... I'd rather sit and watch grass grow. More entertaining.
Hey driving want to see my underwear? That's what you will get. Still want a radio? -
And yet here you are????????? It baffles one's mind.lilillill and Blaskowitz Thank this.
