It’s part of the problem, not the solution.

Well, I certainly hope that's not true, it certainly would be an about face from the time we came from, but not so far fetched. We would tell the boss of something good someone did. Maybe did something better, helped the whole cause. You had to, it was what employers looked for. The job required drivers to think of what to do next. Today, it's just not so, and people that can merely push a button, can literally do the job. It's frustrating to old timers, people asking seemingly silly, to us, questions, that would get us thrown out on our rears. As old school as I may be, I realize we live in a different time. I have no issues about anyone from anywhere driving our trucks, however, some basic things should exist. For example, by the wording of the posters comment, they are not fluent in English, and possibly part of Buddys frustration, this person may or may not have understood a word Buddy said. I couldn't imagine being a truck driver here and not speak fluent English. This "poor me because I have an accent" schtick( 15 years later) doesn't fly in America. If one is to make it in any job, you should strive to make sure you have no infractions, whatsoever. I, and many old timers, have MILLIONS of safe miles, so we've earned the right to brag a little.
Also, it's this wonderful machine I now am typing on. If I can speak for Buddy and me, it's unusual for old timers to even be here in the 1st place. For us, it's merely a way of keeping busy with all we've ever really known, relevant or not. Most all of our jobs were either referrals from friends, or you see a truck sitting at 11am, we'd go in, look the boss in the eye, and say, "need a driver"? A 3x5 index card with a few numbers, a short test drive. A boss could tell in 2 minutes if you knew what you were doing. There was no TTR or Chinatown, and today you could theoretically get hired and never even meet the boss. Luckily, we aren't that old fashioned, so please, don't judge us old farts too harshly, you younguns' have one up on us, we wouldn't do this job today, and probably vice-versa..
Best of luck to Marwan, I meant no disrespect, however, some things still apply, like making sure you don't have ANY violations, they will stay with you a long time, and please,,,SPEAK CLEARLY, man,,

He only asked for advice. My advice is don't air your dirty laundry in public. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. Use it but maybe pm somebody next time. Lots of people on this site that like to put down new drivers. What happened to the OP is not the end of the world, he may be the next 4 million miler. I only have 3. Good luck OP!!! And I really mean it, you will be fine. More later......
