IF THERE WAS SO MUCH MONEY TO BE MADE BY OWNING A TRUCK, WHY WOULD THE COMPANY BE TRYING SO HARD TO SELL YOU THEIR'S. Thanks to OOIDA for that quote.

If you use craigslist for anything more than a hooker, you're doing it wrong....

That's because believe it or not some people think by going into a lease will be easier rather than saving $$ and buying a truck. Also don't forget some people have credit issues,i'm not going to lie I have credit issues my self but you don't need perfect credit to get a loan to buy a truck. Also you don't have to buy a $70,000.00 truck either, some people have to have everything brand new no one these days want used.

With the Obama Economy of the last few years many people and companies have gone out of business. Its not a challenge to find a good, used truck at a very nice price. I would suggest going this route when breaking into the business as it makes sense to me to use something like this until you know the in's and out's of the job.
Most of the problems I hear about when guys and gal's buy and/or lease involve spanking new trucks. How many here had their first car be a brand new Mercedes?

Laugh all you want at old trucks, but I took a stab at O/O. I saved up enough money for a 1995 International 9800, it was a 9 speed and had a 3176 CAT motor. The total for the truck I paid $5,800 for it, I ran nursury stock loads from Oregon to Pennsylvania in it! Never left me hanging once, I'd spend 2-3 weeks in it on the road, It was gutless as it had only 350HP....But, if there was no headwind and level ground I did 75 in it once. I might ad it had low miles when I bought it, 598K

I loved that truck, it had 24.5's I bought brand new virgen tires for it, other truckers were inpressed there was someone still crazy enough to run OTR in a burnt out cabover...Especially when I was in Virginia and it said Keizer, Oregon on the door. I'd always get asked "how'd ya make it all the way out here in that thing" and I'd always reply, hopes and dreams!

Sadly, 5 months later. The guy I was leased too went under and I sold the truck to a feller for $7,000....All in all, a great adventure I had with it.
