Eastbound on 30 just inside OH has been running, I haven't caught the one on 76 or the one westbound on 80 in quite some time, but I tend to run it at night.

Last time on 76 it was stop and weigh and on my way.

80 westbound near East Moline,IL ran me across in the wee hours this morning, eastbound was out of the ground going the other way out..

It was wet and the lines weren't very visible to line up with the drives. 77k and a little change usually gets me the bypass.

I've seen Ohio DOT waking guys up for inspections around 7 am. Beating on doors, rousting guys out of the bunk, opening hoods. First and only time I ever stopped/stayed at a rest area in Ohio.

No way that is legal but what are you going to do? They got the gun and badge. You might be able to fight it later on but at the moment you're at their mercy. Personally, I'd not answer my door if I was on my ten and see what happens.

One of the drivers here was in that situation. They knocked and kept knocking.. even yelled "DOT HERE, OPEN!!"... he didnt answer. They left him alone. After waking up from his ten, he got out of his truck and they ran up on him and proceeded to a Level 1. LOL.

I'd be inclined to let my co-driver greet them. She's a morning person.

Sad thing is, they'd shoot the dog in "self defense" because she was just excited to see someone new.

You didn't mention what highway in Ohio ? 80? 70? 35? 77? Drove through Ohio for years, only occasionally saw cops in rest areas.. but never got stopped....keep junk off your dashboard, keep your truck clean & free from damage, keep your tandems up & stay legal right?

NY state 90, 87 & 88 are also known for rest area check points
