Makes me wonder if those that benefit from the WIA ever ponder why they take so much tax out of their paychecks.
I'm with you in theory Hangman. I've proudly never taken a dime of help or handouts, but the way our government as been spending in the last 14 1/2 years, I'd suggest anybody eligible should take what they can.

Social program like WIA have to be paid for. That burden is passed to those people still paying taxes in this country. The shortfall is made up by printing money that we don't have, devaluing our currency and therefore causing inflation on all goods and services.

Maybe Hangman meant something else, but thought I'd attempt an answer.

WIA money is administered by each state separately
so one would have to look into their own state to see if they have funds at the moment
in NJ I had to sign a document to say I would take a job OTR to be approved

This WIA is probably one of the least objectionable social programs. Only the one who want to get back to work take advantage of it. With tens of thousands of dependents streaming across the border WIA is peanuts in comparison.

Isnt WIA another government handout - thats how i understand it.
And anything handed out is paid for by someone.

I had to edit this: By the way i am not objecting help for those that need it - i just think it could be a loan and paid back slowly by the recipient and not another excuse to charge all of us more in some way or another.

Precisely. I used the wia and i am not ashamed of it for one second. If all taxpayer money was utilized the way i did we would not be in this mess. I needed help, i took it, succeeded and now i am giving right back to the american people. Most Americans that use social programs take and take and take.....then have kids who grow up and learn to take and take. Makes me sick.

No bergy has it right - just pointing out in the end when you get the job WIA paid for and they pull taxes out --in my opinion no one that received the WIA can ever complain about high taxes.
On that note i am dropping out of this conversation as i am just jacking another thread and diverting the original posters thread.
Plus the mod's will move it to the political forum.

At least somebody - an American - is getting some of the money. The money is going to get spent - may as well take what you can get. I'd rather see a guy get a new career than a see the money being wasted.
