Yep...You'll most likely start with a trainer wherever you go.

dont go werner im training with them right now and i am most likely getting sent home after my 300 hours because they are not putting the newly trained students in trucks just sending them home. i wish i never went with them. im just staying with them for my 300 so i dont have to do it with another company again.

I have been out with my trainer now for 19 days I think. Right at 150 hours driving, 23 states and a little over 8000 miles. No problems. Overall a good experience.

As far as not getting a truck, I havn't been in a terminal since orientation. When I was there though, people were coming in off there trainer's truck and picking up one of their own. Yeah, I heard there were some problems, I just didn't see them.

it probably depends on when and what terminal you are at.

    correct

congrats. you're making good time. the ones getting off trainer trucks to get their own aren't necessarily the ones who just completed the 300 hours though...

if you truly believe this, i feel sorry for you. this is very naive, and almost surely foolish.

maybe. depends on what his last job was. local doesn't mean it doesn't count.

if you worked for a dac reporting company, you should be fine. otherwise, tractor trailer experience carries over with proof of the nature of the job... and proof that you worked there too, lol. good luck. werner isn't so bad now that it sucks to drive for anyone...

kheebl, keep us updated on your progress please. I too started werner training but got off the truck early. My SDM and trainer both kept saying basically I wouldn't get a truck or be tested since nothing available and my trainer's past students were still waiting for assignments. Anyhow I'm from the twin cities too and have my eye on Magnum up in Fargo. Good luck!

Similar to the post above, I'd be interested in former yankee's progress as well. Anyone who is training right now. Maybe if you all would start your own posts, so we aren't highjacking this thread...

Only occassionally have an internet connection. My trainer had a death in his family So I have been in a motel for the last few days. Werner offered to put me with another trainer but I chose to wait for this one to get back on the road. Expect to be gone today. I will get back when I can.

Thanks for the reply. Just out of geeky curiosity, are you using a phone to surf the web or do you have a laptop?

I've been driving for a local route that is contracted out through the school I graduated from - it's only about 120 miles each time I go out, but it is with a 53' and a sleeper tractor... so I am getting comfortable with the maneuvering, and kind of psyching myself up for doing it 24/7 for weeks at a time.
