I just talked to them and they told me they are having problems like most companies are because there isn't enough freight so they laid off there temp and local drivers so they give the loads they do have to the otr drivers. They did tell me that their drivers are only getting about 1500 to 2000 miles right now so I decided to wait and look into some others.

Well I sure hope they are not closing the doors. I just finished orientation yesterday and heading out this afternoon. 4 other guys started same time and they have another orintation class in 2 weeks. And yeah they said 1500 to 2000 miles a week.

Cargo used to be a great company. Since Tony Pope died, it's gone downhill. I've been working for Cargo for a few years and it just keeps getting worse. They are hiring at least six new drivers each week, while the oldtimers are losing miles. Sorry .. even the oldtimers aren't getting 1,500 to 2,000 miles a week. Oldtimer drivers are quitting left and right because they can't pay their bills.

Yes, this past weekend Cargo called all their drivers back .. due to weather conditions. I've sat at the terminal waiting for days for a load with 15 other drivers in the waiting room .. and they are still hiring up to 6 new drivers a week.

I'm going for my hazmat so I can get out of Cargo.

strange - they had an ad in the paper last week hiring drivers. if the "old timers" are quitting because they can't pay their bills with 2.000 miles per week, how are they going to pay their bills with 0 miles per week?

I wasn't impressed with them at all, wasted over a year of my life there. Three hundred mile trips, electronic logs, 62 mph trucks, automatic transmissions. They are a company that loves to pat themselves on the back and wail about how great they are. If that were the case they wouldn't have to run perpetual ads for drivers in newspapers. My honest opinion is that they despise drivers. All they want is for you to drink the kool aid and keep your mouth shut...no matter how much it costs you. I have never seen such a micro managed outfit before. On a brighter note there is not a whole lot of physical loading/unloading..its perfect for lazy people who don't care how much you earn LOL.
