I am a driver for them now, but i only will be there until the last week of May. I have driven for them for over 7 years, and can tell you honestly, that it is definitely not what it used to be. I started as a team driver with my dad, and we did great. I went solo in 2005 and averaged around 2,500 miles per week until the summer or fall of 2008. We were also home all but maybe 2 or 3 weekends a year. Since then they implemented electronic logs, and slowed the trucks down to 62 like someone above had said. I live in Joplin, MO, and for the past 6 months or so, i have averaged about 1,500 to 1,800 miles per week, and running 10-12 days out or so. The problem now is, if I run over a weekend or not, and get home on, say Wednesday, it is almost impossible to get a load out before Saturday or Sunday. Claremont drivers don't generally sit out there but most of us Joplin drivers do. I hope this helps someone out, if you have any questions, feel free to ask away!

i had also worked for cargo in the past they were ok when i had started out in 2006 miles were great and living was good at the company you were treated more then gold.. the owner did alot for his drivers but in 2008 when the bottom of the barrel fell out.. the company went to heck in a hand basket the trucks were turned down, they got us a gps system for trucks that either got us lost to customers or got us a ticket, also the slower of trucks hurt us some we copuldnt make del.and those electronicc logging stsem really made life hard on us alot of lost freight and accounts that kept us afloat for so many years are now gone, so i got out before they hit rock bottom

I have just gave them my notice that I will be leaving. When I started in 2005 it was a good company. I ran the regional runs and was getting about 2400 miles plus home. Then in 2007 I started getting 1300 and running all week and some weekends. I would sit for a day waiting on a load.
I came off the road in 2008 to run local. Pay was OK and they quit paying overtime so all time is the same pay. It takes 5 years to get another $0.20 raise.
Around March of this year they started putting in cameras for the drivers "safety" so they said. The camera points out the front and on the driver with a microphone inside the truck. It was just a test but in August they told us the local, regional, and switcher trucks will be getting the cameras too. It's only a matter of time before the OT trucks get them.
It's so bad with drivers quitting that CT is now offering $0.02 per mile extra for ever new recruited driver you can get or an iPad. -
Well its 2014 is CT any good now or the same. Are there any small companies are at least decent to work for like cargo transporters without the cameras. I'm out NC and looking for good miles and at least. 34 or better (2500/MI or better)

That's why I'm gonna jumpship next week. Been here a month. Worst mistake coming in to drive for these ##########. Just received a 3 day suspension because my Qualcomm went down and I couldn't find a place for them to fax my last 8 days. Really? In the middle of rural PA. No truck stop for another 150 miles away.
