So what is a bleeding edge? Wikipedia.com defines it as a term that refers to technology that is so new (and thus, presumably, not perfected) that the user is required to risk reductions in stability and productivity in order to use it. It also refers to the tendency of the latest technology to be extremely expensive.

Unfortunately, those of us who just have to have the latest gadgets often get sliced and diced by cool new pieces of tech. Over the years, its happened. From the earliest telephones, the earliest cars and the earliest televisions, the early adopters almost always end up getting burned.

Problems often also occur with new versions of existing technology. Take the iPhone 3Gs, for example. Its got a faster processor, but many users are experiencing overheating problems with the hot new model. More traditionally overheating problems have happened over the years with new laptop computer models, but as smart phones take over, overheating CPUs are moving into your pocket.
