on my 60 series, detroit says its okay if it's moist around the weep. if its dripping the seal has failed.

off the cuff,if it caught your attention its probably time for a pump.

that would be true, due to expansion from the heat (to seal it up), but although i do not have a CAT equipped truck, i have replaced very many water pumps in my past. when that weep hole has even the tiniest bit of fluid, it's going, going, gone!

but to also let you know, i ain't debating you, it's what i know i'd be doing.

yes, many times we either forget or ignore some things. we don't mean to, we just do, so any fluid we see, brings it to our attention rather quickly.

just like on hot muggy days, and we park our trucks, and go in the truckstop, come out, and see a big puddle under the truck, we temporarily "forget" it is the a/c drip water.....

I live where it gets cold in the winter, like -20 to -30 at times and that is where I notice more leaks out the weep hole then during the warm season.

Yes, I read that thread before posting this one. I have to determine if the few drops that come out happen to be exiting when the engine is cold or when it's hot. I'll be able to make a better determination on my course of action afterwards. I remember reading somewhere that a small amount is acceptable. I guess we'll find out. Of course, if it increases I'll be spending a day putting a new one in no doubt.

Look, if you want to replace it, then replace it. If you need to wait a few days, you can wait. Tired of all this arguing all the time. Sounds like a website for teenagers.

Cat won't cover a water pump for leaking thru the weep hole unless the coolant is hitting the ground.....

Don't ask how I know..... I'd change your pump.....but I'm far from normal...
