you know, there are some in politics, that wanna push the "green" way of life.

the infrastructure just isn't set up yet, and that'll take time.

why not get more involved with desalinization of the sea water?

water is life. everything needs water, more so than we need electric cars.

The geniuses that the voters in California keep re- electing by large margins , recently decided not to allow a new desalination plant , mentioned in the article, on the mainland .

    elections have consequences people .

I guess the residents of California are slow learners.

plus Catalina is basically a desert island ,
Yet they complain about not having much fresh water ?

and some stuff In The article made no sense
They want to drill a new well so they can re start their old dasal plant ?
I don’t see how a new freshwater well has anything to do with restarting an old desalination plant .

and the Restaraunt that converted their three compartment sink to two compartments ?

im pretty sure the Health regulations in every state require three compartments

    wash- rinse - sanitize
Soap- plain water - bleach water

Along with a separate fourth small sink for the employees to wash their hands .

oh well. You wanna live in paradise, you gotta pay for it .

and all the comments about climate change causing it .
Guess the folks never heard of the dustbowl ?
The droughts a hundred years ago were not caused by pollution from motor vehicles .

although I’m surprised the govt in Cali has not required the island to build subsidized section 8 low income housing on the island

oh , and they didn’t allow the new desal plant on the mainland because of concerns about all the removed salt going back into the ocean , but dumping DDT might be a bigger issue
History of DDT ocean dumping off L.A. coast even worse than expected, EPA finds

Catalina Island being out of fresh water is sad and obviously have been suffering from "not looking forward".
From WHERE has their "Fresh Water" been acquired??

Regarding "DDT Ocean Dumping, of Barrels, Off Shore":
Just like EVERYWHERE ELSE ON THE PLANET!!

I was born and raised in suthun kookafornia, so I unknowingly enjoyed swimming in toxic waters for almost 3 decades.

As a comparative study, how many POLLUTANTS were dumped in the water off Maryland through Massachusetts??

Whatever pollutants dumped off of Massachusetts shores is/was carried out by the Gulf Stream or North Atlantic Drift.

They HAVE been actually looking forward. According to the article a desalination plant was opened on the island in Avalon in 2016! That plant is running full-time,plus they supplant that with ground water! They’re actually in better shape than the rest of the state!
