Hello, I have a 2010 Kenworth t800 with a Cummins isx. It’s water temperature gauge doesn’t always work. It’s reading will either get stuck at a single point or completely goes to 0. In a day of driving near the end of the drive it starts to malfunction. When the truck remains off over night, it will work the next morning. Anybody know what the problem is? And does anybody know the location of the sensor? I can’t seem to find it.

This should be a multiplexed gauge, the sending unit sends a signal to the ECM and the ecm runs the gauge.
AModelCat Thanks this. -
Being multiplexed, I would think that a faulty sensor or wiring to/from the ECM would throw a code.
If the ECM is seeing correct temperature when the gauge is acting up, I'd suspect the gauge could be on its way out.slow.rider Thanks this. -
You ever seen oil heat up before coolant? -
