Watkins Shepard 30 day training as experienced by Warpdrvr

The tractor is in Modesto, so I am getting a ride with another driver to get it. His home in Modesto so it's good for him as well. We are currently in Great Falls, Montana waiting for a load tomorrow at 7am, then onto Modesto. When I get my tractor, I'll fix it up my way and then QC in that I'm ready, and I should be able to get a load home.

 

So, sitting here in Mill City, NV at the TA. We don't deliver until Wednesday, so we are taking it slow and easy. I've gotten about 8hrs of drive time in, so starting to get used to it. Got some good practice on up and down grades on the I80, and I think he's gonna let me drive on the way down Donner Pass..... Let you know how that goes.

 

That might not be such a bad idea! At least I get to experience it for the first time with a driver who's been up and down it many times...

Well, as of 0145 Wed morning, we are being held at Donner Pass due to multiple spin outs and accidents down the pass....it is actively snowing at the moment and chains are required, so we are on the side of the road waiting it out as neither of us want to get out in the 20 degree weather and throw the iron.....and with the snow he will probably drive the pass now, which is ok with me!
