Watkins & Shepard - Yesterday and Today

Well I can't imagine a trainer telling someone to do something that they don't think they can't do or is ready for or even illegal...because at the end of the day...they are a passenger...so if you crash then they crash...but alot of people tell 10% of the story...maybe you was one of them "Vetran Rookies"...the guys that never drove but talk as if they have a million years of experience...and acted as if you didn't wanna listen...nobody wants to hire someone that doesn't want to listen...but I don't know...but don't complain about a company online like a little girl if you won't say nothing about your problems face to face...so just pull your skirt down and realize that everybody ain't for every company and that you will NOT be the next american idol and have been sent home...sorry...

 

Oh...and I went to a 6 month driving school...480 hours total...not saying I can drive perfect or nothing...but I didn't have any accidents in 6 months...only turned down maybe 2 loads...complained about many...but never turned down something unless I couldn't do it legally because of my log book...or me going home was the other direction...and W.S doesn't do forced dispatch...they don't give you 30 loads to choose from...but you don't have to take a load...you maye feel pressured...but let's use commons sense here...if your the owner of this company...and you spent over $100 K for a truck...and you have a driver that doesn't wanna run and make money...wouldn't it be a smart business move to get rid of that lazy driver that doesn't wanna make money for someone that will run down to his last legal hour?...you can't make money on a truck that's sitting...this isn't stocks my friend...and also the dispatchers tend to know the loads people hate or whatever...so it's kinda like...do a favor for them...they a do a favor for you...you don't wanna run they loads but expect them to get you home on time right???...I don't like anybody attacking my friends or even my company...because they gave me the chance to be where I am and i'm not going to let someone bad mouth where I'm basicly from and represent...I don't wash my truck with my own money because I wanna look cool or it's dirty...dirty is a part of the issue...but it's also about pride...and i'm happy to have the yellow red and black on the side of my trailer...your a female...go join SRT...they got purple tractors...plus I don't want another "Stuck" driver that sits around the terminals complaining...but DOES NOTHING!!!...I'm tired of the 90 year old truckers talking bad about the company when they are fat and out of shape...most likely lazy and complain all day...nobody over the age of 30 that been trucking for years should be complaining...you have the experience to move on...if you don't like it..."Downshift...park...let me connect to ya trailer to get your miles...and go home!"...I get tired of hearing grown men that been walking the earth long as Jesus did crying about how they can't get home...If i'm trucking more then 5 years OTR i'll be a owner operator...but it's the old people talking trash and messing up the new 2000 series trucks!!!...

 

ROFL! Well put... I couldn't tell you how many times I went into Helena to se some "old" driver complaining about not getting a load in 2 days, and I just rolled in on Friday at 4pm and got a load out at 5pm. Some people are just so focused on themselves and don't care to help the dispatchers at all.. they have the "entitlement" attitude that everyone is there to serve them.

You guys that live at home with moms and get paid to be an underpaid tourist cracks me up. I bet if I lived with my moms and no responsibilities I'll let dispatch give me anything too. Drivers like u remind me of a Woodstock hooker do to me as u wish, I'm having fun.
Don't talk about your company "wow" go over your logs by 15 mins an see what watkins think about u you will see your only a number no matter how small.
As far as another driver sitting truthfully thats none of your business why they don't want to run; stop being judgemental.
Any driver with good since will tell I'm out here smelling cow manuer and diesel make it worth my wild.
Yet u and other drivers pass judgement on drivers who shot call and draw a line cause u my friend don't have enough cahoona's to do so.

 

I don't know if any of that was directed at me, but I will say that I do NOT live at home with my mom. I am currently going through a divorce with with 2 kids at home, I still support my.. hmm.. soon to be ex-wife? and my kids along with the house payment that goes along with it. W/S is not by any means a perfect company, yes they have issues.. along with EVERY other trucking company out there. I definitely do NOT feel like just a number, I walked through the office the other day and everyone calls me by name and I've only worked here for 9 months.

If that wasn't directed at me, then sorry for the rant.. but it's all still true

if watkins shepard didnt stop the shorline pay, ud still be working here. yes u would!, but instead u opted to stay for lousy mile pay to do the same work.... u went from 60k+ a year down to 30k a yeah, more then 50% pay cut, and u thought it was going to be the same? hince the reason for me being otr for good with this company, then after what? a month, maybe less then that, u decide u couldnt do it anymore, and rather then going otr a few weeks, u up and leave, and google watkins shepard, and find this forum, and join, and jump here, and pretty much call watkins a joke to work for? theres more happy then unhappy people that work here, iv met a ton of em,
one of my fav questions to ask people when i meet them, that work here, is " how long have u worked here? " many, many, many times the answer is the same " well the first time i was here for xx years, this time around its only been x years/months " why? cause they think the grasser is greener els where, and for some thats true, but a lot come back, wonder if ull be calling dave when you hear about the new pay on the east coast, if u havnt heard yet, the pay went back up... hmmm... i wonder what it could be now.

and all u ever say is " i bet ur home base is still at ya moms place " big ##### deal, are u man now cause ur married and dont live at ur moms? woptieee frikn duuuu. but i aint gettin married in my 20's while trying to be a truck driver. and while im still living at my mommys house, i save my money, not give it to my wife, my gf, my old lady, or whatever els people are calling em these days.

nawlins, the country is in bad shape, and in case u didnt realize it, but w.s is a small company, maybe its mid size, im not sure, anyway, not just watkins but many many other companies, even swift is forced to do what they have to do, even if means cutting pay, lucky for us only a penny , other companies cut their drivers pay by up to 6 cents, you my friend are greedy, all about you, and just not thankful to have had a job in the first place.

Hey S2B, so far so good. I enjoy getting a little more exercise, and a little more hands on.. plus so far the miles are looking real good!!

Java I think I might like you, but u have to read headlines on top of the post first. You go back and read the heading u will see who I'm talking too.
Maybe u do feel ur not an number, but I said get caught out there u will be. Java I don't bash people just because you have to read my post with an open mind not just repost like this other cat.. The only problem I have with u is getting sucked up in judging other drivers sitting other than that we still cool.
Now 2 s2b seriously 50% pay cut over the road every or 50% raise home everyday plus hour on the dock at 18 an hour, watching "You are the father before I go to sleep" every morning. I earned it and I'm satisfied.
Your company aint all that trust me if a newb its suppose to be the best thing since sliced bread; S2b last I looked I have more than 18 months in this business I have the exp to b!+ch live comfortable.
So my friend keep running for .31 a mile u desrve the company say's; Wait for dispatch and wait to get loaded and unloaded, I get paid to unload my... my own load that I drop plus the load I come back with plus to unload when I get back hourly.
I said that to say this life is a beep; but it don't have to be hard.
