Well I am hoping to return to WS for training which will all be driving and shifting but it is going to cost me $2,500 which I do not have but am trying to get. Unfortunately I am in the same saturation that many are in today with our economy after 34 yrs in the trades currently a licensed contractor out of work and out of funds.
But I have never been one to quite anything. I will do what I have to do to get the experience I need.

Glad to hear that you are hanging-tough AZ.
I'm curious why the first time you went to WS you mentioned that you had no expenses but for food, yet now you have to come up with $2500 to RETURN to the same program?
I dont care to be cynical, but is this a ploy on their part to get $ from you? They told you that you did well and would be a good employee but because you messed up One aspect of the training you have failed, BUT for $2500 you can come back and try again.
That stinks to me. How about a little re-work time on their dime. That sounds fair.
Anybody else want to chime in on this?
Man, Im certainly getting second thoughts about this company.

its cute how someone got sent home and put w.s under the " bad " section,
the reason they teach you how to down shift downhill is teach u how to regain controll of the truck, thats why, in the real world u DO have to shift down hill for many reasons, what ever the reason may be youll have to do it at some point, considering the speed limit is 55mph on the hill they teach i highly doubt they make you take ur speed up to 65 mph then take it all the way down to 15, saftey is the number one issue at the company. they expect that you no how to drive already, learned a lot from the school you went to, tho schools always say never take it out of gear when going down hill..wrong, you have to at times!,
sorry u didnt make it on with w.s, try another bigger company, swift, werner, schnider, they may take you i suppose,
noo w.s is NOT forced dispacth, however its not encouraged in any way to turn down a load, i mean you can if you want, thats fine, thats more miles on my truck, the reason you dont wanna turn down loads is because they will look at you as a lazy driver, accepting any/all loads will work in your favor, it will show them that they can depend on you, but uv gotta make your appt times. -
The only thing is I do not want the same guy to train me that yelled at me and everyone else he is a bit intimidating. I do not believe you have to yell or degrade people to get your point across.
Because now I would be attending their school. It is my choice to go through their school so to do that I have to pay the money.
If I thought they were a bad company I WOULD NOT WANT TO GO BACK...Last edited: Aug 4, 2009

And soon2betrucking I never said anything bad about WS I am merely telling my story and the facts of what happen to me.
And yes I do understand that safety is the issue here. And yes my school told us to not take it out of gear going down hill as well.
YES THEY ARE FORCED DISPATCH WE WERE TOLD THAT IN CLASS.
I AM TELLING YOU MY EXPERIENCE. I DON'T NEED TO FABRICATE ANYTHING HERE...Last edited: Aug 4, 2009

Well the school I went to did not emphasize much on double clutching my trainer told me and others to fake it just move our leg up and down. That you do not need a clutch to shift that many company's want you to float the gears.

soon2betrucking
If you do not believe me on that story I have it on video if you would like to see it. -
I would say YES to WS. I think they are a great company comparing them to others and what is out there or I would not be wanting to go back to them. -
why are you yelling at me?? i drive for them, and im telling you that unless you were out on I90, you had no reassons to take it up to 65mph in a 55mph zone, right there you are breaking the law..aka speeding.
as for double clucthin, thats the proper way to shift a truck, for your school to tell you to " act " like it is a bunch of crap, as you are well aware of the fact cause w.s told u to go home... floating is easier, but not proper shifting.
they prob told u to go to the bigger companies and then come back im guessing?
best of luck with the other company, and id hope you make it back to w.s -
not yelling. You can believe what I have said or not it really does not matter to me. I know what I heard in class and went through.
