That’s why we have the HOS so that you aren’t tired.
    See, it works

    Total BS.

How is me stopping at 1100, not being able to sleep, then getting on the highway at 0100 better?

Exactly the way a real driver would think.

The people in the Midwest simply don't understand that the buzzard has to eat, same as the worm.

What's better is after you're safely turned into a F zombie for the day, then you have beacoup hours coming back, so that you can safely be a zombie for 2 or 3 days.

Pure F genius. But it works on paper right? Or fits the model?

When the state of emergency orders are declared and HOS are tossed out the window, and safety is left to the discretion of the driver, where's the feedback from those periods?

I never recall hearing of major accidents, or accidents, regarding those drivers.
    Why???

    fargonaz and Oldironfan Thank this.

I just learned medics work 24 hour shifts? Not sure how that works but I'm guessing they sleep when they can. Also guessing they are paid for all 24 hours?

The answer is that 6 more hours allows me to drive during the day like a normal person.

But the HOS that you advocate completely disrupts my sleep patterns and sarcatian rythym.

So the same people that put out OMG WTF levels of propoganda on sleep patterns are ok with them being disrupted as long as it's done within the HOS.

    How is this better?

There will be tough days conforming with the HOS every day.
And truck driving is not for buttercups anymore, if it ever was....
And without HOS you and other drivers would have no problem waking up from a 45 minute nap and driving 800 miles straight, laying down for 90 minutes and then waking up to deliver at 1 in the morning and hand unloading 1,400 tires and then driving 150 miles to reload and then driving 600 miles straight.

But now you complain about having the day off to rest and having to wake up early to run a load that you booked. Knowing full well it was too tight for your 70 hours and your hefty sleep requirements.

    Even does a curtesy
