I don’t see how you can find time to negotiate and book all your own loads and negotiate new truck purchases and look for new employment and run 5,000 miles a week.

Thanks for the posts. Things are a little tough in the industry right now and the guys can really use a good laugh now and then.
Since nobody seems to believe your claims we'll just consider it entertainment and not take it too seriously. You have a great imagination.
The guys at the truck stop lunch counter are probably really impressed with your stories. The drivers here...the real drivers...have heard it all before.

It’s funny, all the years I hauled cattle and would do two a week off the coast back to the Midwest all of us that were running hard all the time didn’t have to go around telling everyone else how hard we were working. And in the spring when Cali was popping off it was 6-7k a week without a break for a couple months and in August and September we’d be doing two a week from Florida back to KS. So spare me the speech about hard work because we’ve all been there and plenty have worked harder than the both of us. If you have to talk about how hard you run and your bank account and how hard you’ve worked in the past then I automatically take that down about half of what is said. The people who keep their mouth shut and work hard are the real ones.

well i guess my answer was exactly i told the other guy thats why u don't see me here ..
and running cattle is one of the jobs i always wanted to do but never had luck doing it .. you guys work hard asf ill give you that .. and trust me i keep my mouth shut but i just hate when people talk non sense and try to make you a liar so i just had to put them in place ..
one of the big reasons i never posted on here before is exactly whats happening ..
and trust me not alot of people work hard those days .. its less than 10% everyone wants to make money but none put any effort that's what i hate the most .. you guys run the hardest and people just never believe what it takes these days to be succeful ..
but best of luck to you and stay safe..

The oilfield line of work with hours are more than likely true. I worked out there for 21 days on and 7 off and worked 100-120 hours a week when it was booming. But I did not drive trucks at that time so it was some hard labor out in the desert most of the time.

So I just read though 16pgs of post, 80% bashing each other. 20% about the rates. Do any of you guys run dedicated runs (paid to deliver goods, paid to return the empty racks) same run 5 times a week? I got hooked up with automotive parts and have been doing this for a year. My cost per mile is way higher than most-- just starting out. I also track ALL expenses. I can find Spot rates (DAT and others) but can't seem to find contract/dedicated rate info. Do you all have a place to find these kind of rates?
    Thanks

Umm, those are classified! I ain’t telling you what I haul for so you can wiggle in! You are out here on your own! We can be associates but are not here to drive the knife into our backs for you.

EXACTLY. Not only are you undermining yourself by giving away secrets and strategies, but it is UNFAIR to those who did things on their own and struggled for years while doing it. Why should a newbie get a free pass? When you teach someone how and where to find shippers let's say, you not only affect yourself but you affect others. I never understood why all these clowns on Youtube give away their trade secrets and brag about what they are making. I guess that they crave attention and validation from others.
