    5% is not accurate.
A random inspection blitz in Oklahoma found 25%.

Secretary of Transportation wouldn't declare a "national emergency" if we are just talking a couple percent of illegals here.

    We got a big problem.

Well......it's not so much the laws that are racist. It's the way they're being enforced that is in my opinion. There have been some missteps in the enforcement. If there have to be deportations, ok fine. The outright next level effort to hunt them out is what's bothersome. There's not even a due process its kidnap and drop off, even if it means breaking up families and causing other interruptions.

Then the hypocrisy/irony bothers me. I mean America was built through illegal immigration before there was illegal immigration. These American historical figures that we are supposed to be celebrating created a country by a much more violent version of illegal immigration. Lots of genocide, homicide, all of that. Today's "illegals" don't do nearly the amount of genocide and homicide that was committed on the way to creating America. It's so weird. It feels like there's almost some kind of fear to these folks. It don't bother me like it does others, especially when the country could put their energy towards more pressing issues.

    Lol why wouldn't he?

Are you saying......you actually trust your government? The very government that.....wait for it...."over-regulates trucking?"

Ok..in Oklahoma you say. We can use that. The inspection blitz uncovered 25 percent of what? Drivers that went through the weigh station? I said "illegals" made up 5 percent of the entire labor force. Did the inspections catch 25 percent of the entire industry? I guarantee you the DOT did not check every single truck on a random blitz, and some foreigners probably still got overlooked. I'd bet a Flying J pizza that if they checked every single truck, the number would be far lower than 25 percent.

Statistics have context. Its kind of like the scientific method. You can manipulate outcomes by changing a variable or 2. I don't find statistics to always be comprehensive so for the most part, I don't take them at face value. Most of the time, stats are moreso geared towards creating a narrative than exposing the real picture.

Umm, a big problem is also the whites. Russia, Ukraine, etc.. it’s not a matter of skin color. It’s a matter of illegal practices and influx of supply has taken away jobs of US carries. It’s hard to compete when your a small mom and pop grow with these challenges. Almost impossible. Now if you’re at a big carrier you probably don’t care as much when your competition isn’t these foreign companies.

Already saw an estimate that it is somewhere near 350,000 plus so this sample from Oklahoma matches up pretty close. The majority of the truckers you see are white? We'll you could say that any of those are likely eastern European and secondly race in reference to illegal aliens has nothing to do with it. Green blue, purple etc, doesnt matter, if you are here illegally you must go.
Yes there are problems that do exist outside of this subject but its definitely a big factor in driving the rates down.
And and yes you are right, flip flop, driving porn watching, sloppy poorly trained American drivers are there too, thats across the spectrum.
I certainly can't just waltz into any country illegally like Germany for instance and just start "driving trucks". Why are we the ones who always get #### on. Lets look out for Americans for a change.

Thats what's happened here. My wife nearly got killed when she was stopped at a light and a middle eastern guy just about rear ended her at high speed. She saw him in the rear view mirror with his foot on the dash as he approached. He ended up just missing her and sliding into the grassy median. His whole semi ended up about 100 yards ahead of her. He got out she said something to him, as did some other car drivers, about what happened and he shoots her a bird and cusses her in Arabic? Not sure what it was. I had just lost my mother 4 days before this and this on top of all the other crazy stuff I've seen them do driving a semi the past 8 years.
Yes Houston we got a problem. Thank God we hope we got a president thats going to do something about it unlike the last bumbling idiot we had the past four years.

Lol let's be for real here. I know it encompasses more than middle easterners and Hispanics. However, the question remains as to whether Eastern Europeans and Russians will actually be a target of enforcement. The foreigners taking jobs away is one of the biggest false narratives I've ever seen. To say that's the reason mom and pop carriers can't compete, yeah, no. That doesn't even begin to explain why. There were probably too many trucks on the road long before this "influx" of immigrants. I'll take the thought about working for a larger company because that's the reason mom and pops can't compete. The industry panders to megas, or companies that have mega capabilities/abilities. I've been on both sides of the coin and in my view, there's 2 different worlds to trucking. Strength in numbers drowns out floundering mom and pops. It won't drown out the true creams of the crop, but all of these meddling ones that can't turn a profit large enough to even maintain the trucks, yeah they'll be forced out. The good, bigger companies can get the nicer equipment, provide quicker/efficient service, and most importantly get monster discounts on pretty much everything it seems.....fuel, tires, etc. To me that tells the story. The cost of everything has risen and rates haven't kept up, not mention freight volume is inconsistent. Even if the foreigners weren't here, there would still be a freight recession. Fuel isn't going to get cheaper. I don't buy the notion that they've taken all the jobs or driven down rates. Even if they succeeded in getting the foreigners out of the industry, you'll still need to trim some of our home grown drivers down too. The only way to do that is to make it harder to get a CDL all the way around, not just foreigners.

Ok forget it, have boots on the ground to paint a picture and not rely on stats.

Everytime you're at a shipper or receiver have a chat with them and ask about what percentage of the drivers that show up speak English.

Do this over and over again.

    I have done this.
I challenge anyone to do so, it is very revealing.
Most often especially in flatbed world they are open to talking about their experiences with drivers.

Nah. I'm not asking shippers and receivers about that. It ain't what I get paid to do...also.....I don't care for real. The immigrants don't affect me at all. America is changing in terms of demographics and I like it. I don't feel threatened by immigrants taking my job. I'd like to think im pretty good at this. I try to get better each load. Rather than worry about competition, id rather keep my head down, run the miles, and be as good and reliable as possible. I think one has to be so good at what they do, that he/she is undeniable. I think I like that philosophy better.
