If I want to live in Costa Rica I have to prove I have the means to live there. And it makes the process easier if you deposit $60k into a Costa Rican bank account. I would be allowed to own a business but I can’t work there and I’d be required to hire locals only. I guess that’s pretty racist too, huh? Other countries are way more strict when it comes to immigration but the minute we try and slow the flow down a little bit here the R word gets tossed around. Ridiculous.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Rideandrepair, Siinman and 11 others Thank this. -
He also has a vested interest in publicly making it look like he's cracking down on immigrants, because that's what his boss wants. So yeah, I'm skeptical of the talking points.
Case in point, the Oklahoma blitz. "More than 125 undocumented immigrants, many of whom were truck drivers, were apprehended in western Oklahoma during Operation Guardian, a sweep conducted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and ICE". Notice the use of "many" - not "all", not "most", just "many". That indicates that less than half of those detained were truck drivers, but we don't know the real number. However all the press releases and news stories make it seem like this was a blitz inspection of CMVs only.
My next thought is if a person obtained a CDL then they are a documented migrant, unless they bribed someone. There are a whole bunch of people that were legally going through the process that suddenly became 'illegal'. How many of these 'illegals' just had a non-domicled CDL that was entirely valid 2 days ago and Oklahoma decided to lump them into the 'illegal' category?
Then what actions is FMCSA taking against the carriers that employed these 'illegals'? Has Duffy announced audits or issued shut down warnings? Or at least named and shamed?
This is making noise to distract the base from all the other things that aren't going so well.Numb and bryan21384 Thank this. -
It's a big deal when factory a leaves the United States to another country for cheap labor.
People care when those kinds of Americans lose their jobs.
Whole political campaigns have run with this issue in focus.
If a job leaves for others do to it cheap elsewhere people care.
Where is the care when those others come here to take our jobs, especially when they are illegal?
You cannot compete with an illegal coming here to live out of truck and sending money to their families overseas with a lower cost of living.
They will always be able to run cheaper than a United States citizen supporting their family here.
These people are a threat to our very existence.
If we let the whole planet in to take our trucking jobs we'll all be cut out at some point.Rideandrepair, Siinman, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and 3 others Thank this. -
All people didn't suddenly become illegal and breaking the law at the stroke of a Pen by Sean Duffy.
From what I understand their CDL is still valid as long their lawful presence is not expired and license is not expired.
The rules moving forward have changed but all the non-damatile CDLs didn't just lose their license and become illegal overnight.Rideandrepair, Siinman and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
How in the hell can they get away with this, imagine how many more and God knows what Commiefornia has been doing.
Rideandrepair, Siinman and Kenworth6969 Thank this. -
There needs to punishment on the carrier side.
Just going after drivers is not enough.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Rideandrepair, Siinman and 3 others Thank this. -
Did anyone notice that's a REALID? What is even the point of the whole system?
