Exactly! A lot of people can’t do a simple math! When it’s 2500 mi and pays $4000, nobody sees 2500 mi, th hey only see $$$.
But how much it will cost to get there??? They don’t have an idea…

Not $5 of course, but with diesel $5 on average it has to be $3-3.5/mi or at least nothing less then $2 per mile…
Each mile costs now $.90-1 on fuel only! Include here insurance, maintenance and small brake downs and it brings us to the $1.2-1.5!!! And all this is without any payments! :D

They are happy making garbage money because they send that money home to their families. In their countries, it's a fortune.

Yes, Phoenix is an absolute garbage area for outbound freight. I had to deadhead home to Vegas a couple of months ago because I couldn't find anything.

there is still a difference between covering deadhead, and straight up wasting time and money

Not going to get into a drawn out discussion but this is where you are wrong

I get it. If you don’t run for a buck a mile the next guy will but $5 pm freight at every zip code you go to is better than that $1 you take but since we have guys like you it will never drive all rates up

I hope these are the ones who take it hard as they and not the brokers are the sole reason there is $1 freight in the first place

Living in New England, I dead head to PA every week for an LTL load, nothing goes in my trailer for under $2.69 a mile with the rare instance I do a full truck load, which I am no where near that low for a yearly average, and those cheap “just to get me there” loads, are always the ones that turn into nightmares,

then again, LTL is a completely different ball game then FTL

Can I play devils advocate here..m let's say you book a load from a decent freight area going to a bad area, but you can negotiate the rate to pay for roundtrip to bad area and back to good area... if you take a cheap load, out of that bad area, is that still a bad idea, or are you increasing your revenue , since you are already getting paid for round trip?
