I am just curious, do the good brokers still take care of their loyal guys? I haven't heard lately such good tales here in this dark age of trucking.

I've been paying $1000 to $1500 over "market" for reefer out of the phoenix area for months. However, the customer rushed out a new bid where I had to essentially lower the line haul by .85/mi just to begin to compete. So, bye bye FSC. Rate will REALLY suck if fuel goes back cheap, but it wont with the current regime.

Still, a $1500 decrease to the midwest is crazy and even more crazy is its still WELL above what DAT says. It seems currently similiar to florida. So Cal sucks so people had been DH to AZ but now both suck. Now, unfortunately gravy train ends for myself and my carriers. What sucks is it also affects my own assets.

It is what it is though, we've been hitting grand slams for a couple years now... we'll have to make do with home runs and base hits for a while.

Edit: Im still higher then any of the competition or brokers. Thankfully service still matters even if a decrease has to happen.

Rate reality is here... These unsustainable high rates the past 2-3 years are the same as the cryptocurrency scam. Slow and steady wins the race.

Is near $1 per mile fuel, $0.70 per mile for drivers and $200,000 new trucks sustainable for $2 a mile and under loads. Van is a struggle just to get that $2.

    This is even more crazy.
    It's bankruptcy rates out here.

Not my problem... I'm not operating my business depending on cheap loadboards and leftover crumbs from a broker. Nor did I buy a used $125,000 truck with 400,000 plus miles thinking I would be on easy street..... I'm guessing you are in that group. Tough spot to be in. Good luck!

I got my freightshaker cheap before the stupid prices.
I was sitting for a few weeks but now I just do short loads by the house. I noticed short runs paying better because flatbed drivers are afraid of the cold.

I was thinking you are sitting for months, but it was only 2 weeks and you are back on the road.
My mistake, I've thought you have a choice to sit or not sit...

I sit when it's not worth it for me to work.
For the right money I'll work.
    $2 a mile loads = sitting.

    $3 a mile for 100 miles = working, right?

And only 2 weeks sitting is nothing, I've sat for almost 4 months in the summer, that is called sitting.

I've sat for 8 months before. It's all cool but guess what, you might as well strike a match to your cash. It ain't sustainable. Better figure out something different or get better customers.
