I'm running Big Road elogs. Once a week I send the logs as a PDF file to my employers. I got a citation in Iowa for not having my previous 7 days printed and signed. I offered to print them (printer onboard), email or fax them and was told. "No, they have to be printed out each day" if that's true, I might as well go back to paper. Anyone know the "skinny" on this? Thanks....Floyd

I have just started using the Big Road elogs myself, and while I haven't had the pleasure of being pulled over by the D.O.T. in order to ask that very question, it does seem to me that the best way to avoid the possibility of getting a ticket, would be to just simply print them out at the end of the day.
Sure, it does just add to the list of things to do each day, but as long as your stocked up on printer paper and ink, it only takes a couple of minutes to do, and you won't have to worry about being cited by a cop who just wants to bust your balls, because he thinks he can.....

They have to either see a hard copy of the previous 7 days or be able to access the eLog system on location and see a graph of the previous 7 days on the screen. One or the other or both (Must also provide instructions on how to access and use the eLog system that is in the truck.

Not sure why they would not accept fax or allow the driver to print while there as I've generally understood this was allowed by most states but would not be surprised if some states would want the information "there, available at all times"

Thats kinda dumb , why have elogs then ?
I only save mine to pdf for tax reasons , just incase the government don't like that per deim claim at the end of the year and wants to audit me. Lol.

I have never been asked by a office to see my logs yet , (today it will happen now ) lol
the only thing I ever get , is the guy asking how many chains I am carrying .
I blurted out the first # that came to mind one night it was kinda funny , he goes are you sure ?
I said yup , he started laughing and said have a good night. Lol
    what ever that was about.

most of us on computer, print them out each day. why should you android users be different and not print. it's just a new tactic to get us on.

it draws a fine line, though, between those of us with printers. and those with babysitters and no printers. we have graphs just like the babysitters do. but we have to print.

DOT gives me an email address and I send them it , they show up on his computer at the weigh station a few moments later , it's never been a big deal .

though you are correct, a LOT of tickets that we get can be fought and won in court

but then that too comes with a cost, a burden upon the driver

why is it allowed is a major question

This is the first I have heard that they didn't let you go back to the truck and print them out or email the officer so he has them in a few minutes. Guy was being a jerk.
