I feel like this is the right threat to add this, you guys know about the Snow storm that's supposed to come to Atlanta tomorrow morning and Saturday, I'm in Atlanta right now doing a 34, and supposed to go out Friday, what do you guys think? Hopefully we don't get ice too, maybe I should leave tonight, get my load and get the F out of Atlanta before the storm.

    Numb and Cherokee65 Thank this.

I just posted elsewhere about the amount of trucks I saw yesterday laid over on the 10 and the 215/15 interchange. Amazing.

When you get your CDL there should be a survival instinct test.

1- weather report on your route - weather apps , or on your radio
    2- is it cold ? 32 or lower ?
3 - are the roads wet ?? Is it shiney ? Is day light or night ? Is it in the shade - like a canyon or pass or a lot of trees ?? Is it windy???
Thats all before and during driving.
Assume that it (ice ) is there.
You can start in a tolerable place and in a few miles run into ####ty weather and roads.
Look at your tires , is it spraying off ?? if not - ice . Does it feel like your floating / less road noise - most likely ice. Are the headlights / taillights more shiney- mirror like? Most likely ice . Every situation and road and drive way is different , and there are lots of tips, but the one i live by is - if in doubt , stop and call it a day - no load on a commercial vehicle is worth your life.
If you wreck / die , it aint getting there anyways.

A Texas DPS cop that was at the accident scene testified in the trial. Said the Werner driver was doing everything right and that the other guy was 100% at fault. Didn't help.

I always watched other vehicles passing me, if there tires are shiney and throwing up spray, you’re good until they become dull, then there’s a pretty good chance it’s starting to freeze on the road!

depends on what direction the load takes you.

east is bad, west is bad.

north you run out of it.

the storm is basically following I-40 east into N. Carolina

So basically the only way to go is down back south to Florida huh, I haven't got a dispatch, so I don't know where I'm going yet, hopefully they have common sense to not send me East to deliver a load in Noth or South Carolina or something.

Atlanta is very like to ONLY get ice. I'm betting your 34 turns into a 48+ reset.
