    Hope springs eternal.....:D

As of the time of this posting -- carriers in the KC area that are hiring -- & train new CDL holders.....include (but are not limited to):
One of those may offer you an opprtunity, later....when you are truly ready to go full-time.

Any of those above would very likely be a fine "starter" choice.

The company I work for has 3 day on and 4 days off. Then 4 day on and 3 days off for a few drivers that share a truck. Basically the trucking company gets to keep the truck running 7 days a week and the driver switch out. I can’t remember seeing any weekend only driver at any trucking company.

maybe a weekend spotter driver. I just switched to yard spotter driver and work 12 hour a day. 4 days working then get 3 days off.

Many driver leasing services require 2 years of CDL work. Maybe some of them don't.

How is a trucking company supposed to train you (CDL SCHOOL leaves out 95% of the job training) if you are not at work but 2 days per week? Go work ANY OTHER job until you are available for full-time work. Don't be surprised if when you are available for work in a few months you are asked to pay for a refresher course since you haven't used your CDL for months. Some trucking companies will require that and some will not. Most companies with trainers train during the week. Not a lot of trainers want to work weekends. Most trucking companies do not have lots of trainers.

I don't understand why SO MANY newbies go to CDL school and immediately cannot work or need to change states? Life happens, I guess.
It's one of the top 2 questions asked on the forum
"I just got my CDL and Insert_Reason_I_Can't/Haven't_Worked_For_Months/Years."
    another is
"I signed a 2 year contract with Terrible Trucking Inc yesterday and start orientation tomorrow. Are they a good company?"

I’ve worked weekends for milk haulers and a hospital linen service company. Both ran 24/7/365 and needed coverage on weekends to give their regular drivers time off. I was experienced though. But try something like those which REQUIRE weekend work due to their business

I’d look into a yard spotter job.

Find another weekend job, and get your CDL when you are ready to go East Bound and Down! It's not a part time gig it you want to make a living wage.
