All in all they are good people.I have some hate towards them on some issues but all in all it is the best place i have ever worked. If i ever get my own AUTH i would hope to still pull Landstar Loads..

As far as E-LOGS i talked to a guy that volunteered to get them for free.He has been here some 25 years and he claims he loves them and has not lost any revenue..He said the hardest part of e-logs is if you burn the 3 hours at a dock and have to ride 650 miles. It is no screwing around and hammer down.Or he said he will ''reschedule'' load for following day..Other than that he said people (like me) are making to big of a deal out of it.

I guess we will see when or if the government ''mandates'' them..

If they do......Shippers and Receivers better be on time themselves.......Otherwise....I see drivers parked at the docks and taking their "10's" right there......

Make the assumption that all the scales have cameras and software systems with license plate recongnizion technology. And all the traffic cameras of the world, do the same. Watch a program like "Person of Interest" to get the jist. As drivers, we don't know exactly what is being documented and then available to the the next enforcement personel. I have decided to "log it like I run it", which is they way my company ends every communication they send to us. I am not going to jail if an accident occurs by some texting teenage driver with a car full of buddies. If I am legal, I have still got my hands full with the best lawyer I can afford to come out of a mess like that. Not worth it.

In the professional world it is called RISK MANAGEMENT.

And how would this have been any different on a paper log? The company would surely still know that you hadn't moved all day and would have a full shift to drive on.

It would not be any different. The only difference is this.

Just because drivers have hours left and are available,DOES NOT mean they are healthy, alert and awake to go driving. That is why E-LOGS are killing people. He slept all night and then he was wide awake ready for dispatch. The dumb dispatcher left him sit there all day twiddling his thumbs..At 8 PM he gets load assignment and is expected to be there at 5 AM.?

I would tell them to bad jack.I will pick up load but i am going to sleep.I am to unsafe to drive..RESCHEDULE DELIVERY..This is the issue with a computer not being on the same clock as your body is.It's impossible.

    Uh, OK?

Again, what is the difference, the company knows he has the hours regardless if he is on e-logs or on paper. It's not like all of a sudden a gun comes out of the e-log and points at his head and says "YOUR BREAK IS OVER YOU MUST DRIVE!". If he is too tired to do the run, he needs to tell dispatch and get something else.

Again, what would prevent a driver on e-logs from saying they are too tired to do the run? NOTHING.
