He weighed wrong twice. Besides that, if a scale master has faith in his scale he won't care how many cat scale tickets you have, it will not factor into if he writes a ticket or not, especially considering how cheap the fine is.

should I have had them load me with the pallets sideways, to possibly avoid this? I had them load me with the pallets straight and in doubles....or is this something you would typically correct by sliding your fifth wheel? Just wondering which is most typical to prevent this

Did you hit snow or ice that could add extra weight to the roof?

no, no snow or ice, according to the other guys its most likely because I set my brakes on the CAT scale and it dumped a lot of the weight to the trailer

Why didn't you just move the tandems up and take the weight off the drives. Then problem solved. You have 6400 lbs between drives and tandems so plenty of room the adjust then no way it could be over on drives.

Then they loaded too much in the nose for that much split. So that's on the shipper. What does your company say about overweight tickets?

Sliding trailer wheels all the way up is a thought I have not considered. Most shippers know how not to load too heavy in the trailer front or back etc.

IF the weight was close to 34000 on the drives with the trailer tandems all the way up while catting out of shipper on the west coast, there is a potential problem already with the load in the box. Others have already addressed this.
