I didn't know this thread was about pretzels, BUT......
Since last week I've had a hankering for pretzel rods, heck, ANY pretzels, and I've been unable to find them in any truck stop I stop for fuel. Weird.
Weird request.......

Had a particular protein shake that I used to get from GNC that didn’t taste like schoolroom chalk. Problem was. GNC would order stuff that nobody wanted. Couldn’t keep chocolate on the shelf, but they have 3 shelves dedicated to Fruity Pebbles flavored shakes. So, I started ordering chocolate from Amazon. GNC store went out of business. Hate it for them, but if they can’t figure out how to carry what everyone seemingly wants, so be it.
Order a week in advance and you should be able to keep your pretzels in stock.

According to a Reddit post:
homeskillet, D.Tibbitt, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
Walmart and Target have them.
D.Tibbitt and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
United Food Stores has had them in the past. The one I haven’t been able to find is unsalted old fashioned pretzels by Rold Gold. United Foods in the Midland/Odessa area used to stock them, but not lately.

They probably dropped them from the product line so they can make room for something stupid like bar-b-qued pinapple flavored Doritos.

D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

You know, it's tough explaining what this site is about to someone. We certainly cover the entire gamut of life here, whether intentionally or not. Pretzel rods, by gar, that takes me back. As a kid in Milwaukee, we had a liquor store just down the street, and they had pretzel rods in that little round glass case. A penny a piece. They are still made in Ohio, bought out by Frito-Lay, but I don't think has near the sales they once had. Why? Public enemy #1,,SALT.
Snyders made a good salty Bavarian style, when I had teeth to crunch them, and Rold Gold was always there. Unsalted pretzels goes again everything we hold dear, and now, all you can find is low salt "specialty" pretzels,,,meh. A lot of things I took for granted in the Midwest, are not available here in Colorado. Northern Pasties, many kinds of candy, fresh cheese curds, potatoes chips too. I used to eat BAGS of chips, Mr. Gs, or Mrs. Howes were my favorite. Today, all potatoe chips make me sick, I heard it's the oil used today. Twinkies too. Used to love Twinkies, and were not available for a while, the Smucker Jelly Co bought them from Hostess( for $5.6BILLION dollars) but not the same. Wonder bread too, I used to love Wonder bread, can't find it. We ate a lot of crap growing up, Remember Pic-Nik shoestring potatoes? Found them in the baking aisle. A quick check on Wallys website shows, Rold Gold sticks are available, but the rods only are from Snyders or Putz, oops, I mean Utz and hardly any salt to speak of.
TTR,,,pretzel rods,,,what next? -

If you need red gold, I know this smuggler who's real good friends with a jeweler that gets his supply from a South African mine. Long story short, they all think that those pretzels are delicious too.
