Landfills are nothing compared to meat packing plants!
One in Austin MN, had to back all the way in and then some. Rolled the windows down the first time there, took for ever to get the smell out of the truck. Every time after that i left the windows up and just hoped i wasnt hitting anything while backing in and didnt get out of the truck.

I delivered steel tubing to a dairy farm in the boonies of Indiana yesterday. I was almost there when I had to stop because a tractor with a broken axle on a (full ) manure wagon was blocking the one lane gravel road. Of course no one was in sight, so I had to back half a mile before I could turn around and find another way. I finally got there, and a kid about ten years old came up on a skidloader to unload me.
While there, a meatwagon came to collect a dead cow that had been pulled off to the side. It had been there for at least a few days because when they went to winch it onto the truck, the cow split in half. All this happened about 100 ft. from my truck, so I got the full sensory experience. Definitely one of my weirdest deliveries. -
I bet that was a pleasant smell!!! LOL First the manure then the cow split in half!

I've delivered to a few different places:
1) Winnipeg airport. Delivered a currency exchange machine. Not to the dock, I was right where the taxis drop off people! Everything had to be broken down and brought inside by hand because there was no forklift but about 10 guys helping.
2) Coal mine in Colorado. Up up up a gravel road, the gravel road makes what I would describe as the omega symbol, and it's sheer cliff on the inside. It's so narrow the outside trailer wheels hang off the cliff. Get to the loading location and they put on a 45,000 lb 35 foot piece of ballast. Overweight on the trailer, off it comes, cya later.
3) Picked up "something" from an airport, drove right into the hanger. Had to be escorted and was told to not go outside I would be arrested. Drove "something" to destination, and it was the wrong thing. Matched paperwork, so my ### was safe.
4) Dairy farms in Quebec. Nobody knew english, addresses didn't jive, but I managed to get it to work. At one point the customer just drove around looking for me and found me. -
My p/d route takes me into the north bay area, so i deliver to a lot of dairys and small farms with a long box. My truck always gets full of flies and smells like crap for a while after
Flying Dutchman Thanks this.
