Their pay period ends Saturday. He was home Tuesday that pay period, left out Thursday to California, deliveries Tuesday and Wednesday the next week so only miles that counted on this check were the miles on Sunday through Tuesday before he got home. Joliet IL to Wausau WI, Wausau to Madison, Madison to Portage, Portage to De Pere, that was after sitting most of Friday, all of Saturday and most of Sunday for a load scheduled for Monday delivery in Wausau....500 miles. I know all this because I was with him that trip. He will be having a sit down with his dispatcher, driver liason and another gentleman on Thursday. In the last 19 weeks, he has averaged less than 2000 miles a week.

Anyone know about team operation at WEL? What kinds of trucks do teams run? Can you describe the road test? Wife (new driver) would like to know if anyone chatted with the female trainers? Thank You :biggrin_25514:

im a wel driver and this is a good company. every other driver i talk to says the same thing. i have talked to one driver that had problems with wel but if it was that bad why is he still here for two years. i get really good miles and i do get my detention pay if im held at a shipper or receiver. ive been here over 9 months and have had no problems getting my money or miles or getting home when i want to go home. so if you need a good family oriented company that calls you by your first name and not a number this is it.

Sounds like a pretty good place....When I talked to the recruiter, she said OTR, but it sounds more like LTL....they also had regional positions.
So what is the scoop...do they do both LTL and Full road?
Any info on the equipment would be nice too!! Any info on yard locations outside of WI?
    Thanks!!

All the yards are listed on their website but I work out of ga. They run freight, petes, and kw. new trucks being bought are kw and petes. They have both ltl and full loads. Any thing else just ask it shoots an email right to my phone.

I just started with WEL two weeks ago. 1 week of orientation and I've had 1 full week on the road. I've only pulled a couple of loads so far but I'm happy. They seem to be VERY driver supportive. If you have a question or a problem they have a person for that, no matter what it is. I had a breakdown ( my luck) on my second run and "breakdown" was all over it. Sent the "cat" guy to me when me getting to him seemed like not such a good idea.Dispatch was right in there too making sure I had a reasonable appointment after the repair was done.

They blast through allot of stuff during orientation some you can grasp and allot you just have to get in the system and learn as you go. Not unreasonable. They use "peoplenet" messaging system which is OK, just OK. I'm old school and the phone always worked for me. This is the part of the system I personally have to get used to which will come in time.

I've been driving for 35 years and been with my share of poor companies, bandit companies, and companies I hated to see close their doors. From what I've seen and experienced in my short time here I think I'll be here awhile.

Would I recommend this to others? You bet ya. If you're a new-be and need some more training, they do that. If you're not so new but haven't driven in awhile, they have a program for that too.

3 companies, 3 different issues. The only thing all 3 have in common is ur hubby. Maybe its him, not the companies. You can only blame everyone else for your faults for so long.
