Are you serious??????? First as a student you want L/P advice...now it is SWIFT instead of CR England?? Please...please...please take time to read the posts on this forum!!! Type SWIFT in the search box and read the forum, because they have probably the HIGHEST crash rate due to inexperienced drivers. If you are going to look into companies to get your cdl...look at Millis transfer, Central Refrigerated Transport, and Roehl, and that is just to name a few, but I know there are guys on here that can tell you alot more.

Why don't you look into a Community College that offers it...that has low tuition? You could use VA benefit if you have it, you can use WIA if you were unemployed, or pay for it yourself. I understand that some people can't pay for it, and they need to go to a place that offers cdl training...just do your research thoroughly and read this forum about the companies before going head first into something that you don't want to go to.

Some people just don't want to choose the longer and cheaper route driver. I wish I had the info this guy has at his disposal. I found this website after I signed those $6000 contract papers.

Don't go to Swift......I did the same thing back in 2004.....I went to the Swift Driving Academy in Millington,TN. The schooling was almost tolerable but fulfilling the 1 year contract after you complete schooling will be the longest year of your life. You will be sitting waiting for loads without getting paid. Sometimes I had to sit at various terminals waiting for freight for 4 or 5 days.....WITH NO PAY! I got all of the crap loads that no one else wanted, I lived off advances, sometimes I would make 500 in a week but most of my checks were 200 or so. It was awful, they care nothing for their drivers, you are a number, merely an overhead expense line on some piece of paper. Go to tech school for your CDL, and once you have it, most insurance companies count that as 1 year experience and you may be able to get on with better companies and you WILL find a better company than Swift Transportation. Good luck to you, I hope that you make a conscious and educated decision.

    You made a wise decision.
Swift is a "PTDI-Certified" school, recognized throughout the USA & Canada.
Remember, many of those saying you made a mistake, already have a CDL & a job; you don't, but you will very soon.
    Welcome to the trucking career!

I personnally would consider a company that pays practical miles . I get screwed on so many rand mcnally miles each year that equals 5000.00 based on 100,000 miles a year that .05 rip off miles.
try going to a community college or private school take control of your future dont let these trucking companies control it for you. There in it for themselves not you believe that. You owe them money for school they own you . So when they leave you sitting in the bronx for days i dont wanna here ya complain on this thread dude. Take control i got a student loan and chose where i wanted to work . And if i dont like it i move on . Try that with swift or any other company that trains drivers they"ll send you a bill for 20,000 and sue
