Hi All,
It's been a few months since either me or my DH (mojo rising) have posted, but everything's gone well so far. We started down this path of him getting his CDL last March and after a couple of false starts, he's getting ready to take to the road! Mojo Rising finished his classes at Chattahoochee Tech and got his CDL in December. He was hired on at Crete and will begin his trucking career tomorrow. I'm so proud of him expanding his horizons like he has with this.
However, I didn't realize that I was already going to begin to miss him and he's not even out the door yet! We've been together 24 years and it's hard to see him go for 2-4 weeks at a time at this point in our lives. I'll be fine, though. I got to finish my degree first and then I'm gonna join him. Meanwhile, I'll wander through the threads here to refresh my memory with all of the information I gathered last summer and fall. If there are any other wives out there that wish to chat and help a newbie adjust to the trucking life I would greatly appreciate your help and advice.
Well, off we go, then. Woot!

I love driving and being on the road. Sheesh, I must've been a gypsy in a previous life.

Well, we both survived week 1 of Mojo Rising being an OTR trainee!
He's been rolling around in Illinois, Nebraska, Colorado, and South Dakota. I'm at home cleaning the litter box! Oh, I've been doing more than that, but sometimes it feels like that's all I do, these days.
It's the little things that one misses when your DH heads out for the open road for the first time. For instance, DH ALWAYS made the first pot of coffee in the morning before he left for work. He would then bring me a fresh cup. Whether I was in the study wrapping up an all-night session on a paper that was due, in the living room finishing a book that would be discussed in the weekly seminar, or just crawling out of bed, he would come in with coffee in hand and demand a goodbye kiss for payment for coffee services rendered. Always seemed like a great deal to me!!! I surely miss that and even my favorite brand, Caribou, (of which he bought a bag for me before he left) can't seem to cheer me up as much at the moment. But, we soldier on!
So, here we go with week 2! Fingers still crossed, as he needs to get better at logging directions more firmly into his memory bank, as I understand it. I wish I could help him - I've a great memory, especially for directions.
Have a great week, students, trainees, and old-timers alike.
