When it comes to detention 2 hours is the standard before earning it. Some companies will pay you detention out of their pocket rather or not the customer pays but they are rare. A lot of companies have what's called "stop pay" to pay the first hour of your wait time so you only lose an hour basically before detention starts. The other detention issue that is common in the industry is you have to wait for the customer to pay before you get paid. The longest I have had to wait is 75 days which is complete BS. All that sitting and 24/7 scheduling hours is why I went to flatbed. I have a very consistent sleep schedule and don't wait at all. Lets put it this way, in the last two years I have only went over the 1.5 hour unload/ load mark three times. My day never start before 5am and rarely go past 8pm.
