Well, here it goes! My first entry into the forums. Why may one
ask? Because I leave for company sponsored school this Saturday. I've done alot of research while picking my school, and I have chosen Stevens Transport. One of the biggest draws was working for a refer carrier.

I live in central Wisconsin, and the weather lately has been summer in October. Hell...were usually seeing our first snow this time of year, or at the very least its not 70 and sunny outside. So I'm looking forward to getting out of town and heading to Texas for the start of our Winter season here.

I've lived OTR for many years, working with my CDL-P driving passenger
transports for a private production company (concerts/movies and stuff like that) but I am looking forward to finally getting behind the wheel of the Big Rig (not to say I have never done this before, I would never do any illegal!) So I'm not too worried about the lifestyle challenges. I've been off the road for nearly two years working a local job and working with a combination Fire Department and getting some state paid training in that area, so I will defiantly be re-adjusting, but I'm confidant I will be ok after I get back into the swing of things.

But anyways, in case anyone is interested, ill continue posting as my training goes forward over the next few weeks. Ill provide some further details on the Stevens Transport program from my prospective, hopefully to help someone make an informed decision in the future.

Until next time, ill be hanging with the buddies tonight, enjoying a few cold ones while I still can. Be safe out there guys and gals.

Hey Mongo, welcome to the forum!

I'm a little jealous. Wish I were going on the same mission! Sounds as if you have a pretty good grasp on the otr lifestyle so I guess we can skip all that info. That really helps when you know what to expect out there and definitely takes the edge off.

I really think you will enjoy driving out there and also reefer is my favorite choice. Good luck out there, keep us posted or maybe even start a little "Stevens training" thread. Also, take lots of picts!

    Drive safe man!

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new career. I see Steven's trucks all over the place. You'll for sure get to see a lot of the country the way it looks. I've even pulled a couple loads for Stevens and they were easy to work with. Keep everyone posted as to your progress!
