We were always well pleased with the load pay without fail, and like I said, we had a working relationship with this broker year after year. The problem with this situation is that this apparently was not discussed before hand, knowing what I know I wouldn't burn a bridge until I checked this out first, he could be setting on a good paying load, and then again not. The moral of the story is, the bigger the mistake, the longer you will remember to not make it again.

I know I should not have left without BOL. However he did not want to produce one because he wasn't sure where it is going. I would still be waiting there from yesterday afternoon waiting for it. Today he called me and said it is going to have to be brought back. I do have a rate confirmation before I even went to pick the load up. I called broker, demanded to have a figure of how much he is going to pay me for this mishap. His words were "we will make it right." The outcome of this will determine just where on the list this broker falls. I have done a handful of loads for them, they pay COD, so it was going all good until now.

Hang in there, just use your own judgement with the broker, and just chock it up as experience. To the wise man experience turns to wisdom.

I appreciate the advise. I know this is most likely just a blip - but I'll tell you I will be looking for something steady. I have a couple of loads I can haul west that aren't quite as high per mile, but honestly it runs so much smoother. With winter on the way I am looking to go to the PNW, always seems to be decent coming out of washington with apples when nobody else wants to go there. Florida and Texas may be options, when they start heating up.

You are going to do just fine, you can look over this forum until the cows come home and you will not find a soul that hasn't felt like they made several mistakes in this business, it is such a complex industry. Just remember to spend a lot of time on research before going in a direction that you are unfamiliar with, lack of research will destroy you faster than anything in this business.

i'm curious as to why shippers ship without bol's or ANYWHERE to go for that matter.

couple days ago i picked up a load. broker knew where it was going. but shipper had absolutely NO IDEA of what i was getting. where i was going. NO CLUE WHAT SO EVER.

yes, i left without bol's. had to make my own.

basically i just drove on in. nd picked up whatever i want. not even the gaurdshack stopped me for bills.
