Alrighty, don't want to sound like a litte crybaby cause something didn't go my way but here's the deal: i had planned on going with May Trucking to start my career, i've been told that i might not get on with them due to a shortage of trucks, they told me "Space is filling up quick." now there's still a chance i could get on with May and hopefully i do, but if i don't i wanted to ask around about some other companies i could get on with being a trucking school graduate.
i'm out here in Phoenix, az, so what are some decent companies that will hire recent grad's out of phoenix? i've already applied for W&S out of Missoula, Mt and i've left my last resort to Werner... really hope i don't have to go that route. i take full responsibility for my stupidity, this is something i never do, i didn't apply to multiple companies like i should have and now it's coming back to give me a swift boot in the backside. WELP truckers, if you have any input on companies i should apply for or take a look at, throw them out here. take it easy and thank you for your time.
Well i'm in a pickle...

well there's central refrigerated out of Utah...I dont know much about them but they do take students, there is Swift out of Pheonix, I mean you have to be not so choosy if you are in a bind, sure these bigger companies have issues and they are not the greatest but you do have to get a start somewhere. I started for Werner and if the miles had been there for me on the Walmart dedicated I was driving on I probably woulda stayed with them longer than I did. I wish ya luck and remember to be safe out there

One more bit of criteria i left out, i turn 21 on Saturday, (3 days from today) some companies don't hire on till 22 or 25, like Crete i just found out right as i was going to fill out their application, minimum age to hire is 22... well ####. how can a youngun like me get his foot in the door when everyone wants experience and i'm a year under the hire range, welp that's the way the cookie crumbles. i'll find something, truckin's in my blood, it's my life. well it WILL be anyway.rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
My wife and I worked for Central Ref and had a pretty good experience there. I know for sure they do a lot of runs in and out of Phoenix. Not sure if they hire at 21 though. They have a school at their Salt Lake terminal in Utah. Welcome to the forum and good luck to you.

Well northwest I think maybe some phone calls might be a good thing....talk to some recruiters...yes they will blow all sorts of sunshine your way, but you can ask them about the age thing....not all companies put it on the website. The other thing is to maybe pick up the phone book and call some local outfits to see if they are hireing and what their criteria is. I wish you good luck my friend, and I'm glad you are doing alot of research

simplyred1962 Betty Boop, One Bodacious Babe!!!
Swift has a terminal in Phoenix. I've heard good things about them from other members here.
No matter which large carrier you choose to go with, you're going to hear some jokes and such about how bad "they" are. Just "roll" with it, no matter which company you choose.
Good luck, and happy trails!!
Judi Kayrocknroll nik and Big Don Thank this. -
